The bakery shares its space with Camera 3 Cinema—San Jose’s premiere theater for cult classic films and monthly midnight performances of Rocky Horror Picture Show on the first Saturday of every month. While you’re in the neighborhood, pop in to La Victoria Taqueria, not for food, but for sauce.

With a name like Psycho Donuts, you know you are in for something different. The shop says its doughnuts are "Crazy Good," and we are inclined to believe it, even before a first taste. Here is why: billed as the "world's first and only asylum for wayward donuts," Psycho Donuts has revolutionized, or using its word, "donutized," almost every food favorite including hamburgers, pizzas, fries and tacos.

Pyscho Donuts is about as close as we get to a gourmet donut shop here in the South Bay Area. They go above and beyond your typical cake donuts and buttermilk bars, and every donut gets its own clever name. Donut-lovers can choose anything from the Pink Floyd-inspired Comfortably Numb which looks like a straight-jacketed chocolate-filled goodie, or the crushed up Captain Crunch-topped Cereal Killer.

These aren’t your classic original or chocolate glazed donuts. Looking as if they came out of Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory, Pyscho Donuts have whacky flavors such as Kooky Monster (topped with oreos), Cereal Killer (topped with Cap’n Crunch), and Strawberry Fields (topped with freeze-dried strawberries and pocky). In addition, they also have vegan donuts for those not consuming animal products.

Although not as good as Bob’s Donuts in San Francisco, Psycho Donutsis a fun and tasty donut shop in San Jose, if only for their originality. They specialize in wacky and over-the-top unique donut flavors. When I was there last I tried their donut with peanut butter drizzle and cereal bits on top.

This fun bakery experience is all about unique donuts with creative toppings. From maple bacon to cereal-covered creations, there’s always something new to try. Each donut is a work of art, making it a perfect spot for both kids and adults.
