What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Mitch's Seafood is celebrated for its incredibly fresh, locally sourced seafood and stunning marina views. Diners rave about the authentic fish tacos and the laid-back, coastal atmosphere. However, some reviews mention inconsistencies in certain dishes like the clam chowder and crab cakes, and the restaurant can get very crowded, leading to parking and seating challenges.
"Tucked away along the waterfront at Point Loma, Mitch’s Seafood is a true San Diego gem for anyone who loves fresh, local seafood served without pretense. From the moment you walk up, the casual, coastal vibe invites you to relax and enjoy some of the best the Pacific has to offer.
The menu is a celebration of local catch, featuring fish that’s often sourced directly from the fishermen docked nearby. Highlights include the fish tacos — simple, fresh, and perfectly cooked — and the daily specials that change based on what’s just come in. Their Baja-style seafood stew is another standout: rich, flavorful, and packed with tender shellfish and fish.
Beyond the food, the location itself is unbeatable. You can sit outside on the deck, overlooking the harbor, watching boats drift by as you sip a local craft beer or glass of wine. It feels laid-back yet special, making it a great spot for everything from a casual lunch to a sunset dinner.
Service is friendly and efficient, with staff who seem genuinely happy to share their knowledge of the menu and recommend favorites. Prices are fair, especially considering the quality of the seafood and the prime waterfront setting.
Overall:
Mitch’s Seafood captures what San Diego dining is all about — fresh, local, unpretentious, and beautiful. It’s a must-visit for locals and visitors alike looking for an authentic taste of the sea.

"When we arrived there was no parking. We had to park down the street. There was a line outside of the restaurant. You wait in line to order, and then you can sit down. I liked that you couldn’t sit without a number.
We ordered the crab cakes and that was probably our favorite item from dinner. My husband ordered the sea bass sandwich. The fish was sparse for such a big sandwich we made just one sandwich with it. There wasn’t really anything amazing about the flavor and the fish was rather dry. I ordered the cheeseburger and there wasn’t no flavor. Luckily I added bacon because that added some flavor."

"Had a great lunch here while in SD. Might be our new go to place as the food was excellent and service relatively quick despite being busy. Seating is limited both inside and outside but worth the wait if necessary. Reasonable prices, great selections and a variety of beverages as well."
