🙌🏻🙌🏻 A friend recommended a restaurant in down town San Diego, called Kettner Exchange. It’s located just outside Little Italy and offers Valet parking for $10, plus tip. The menu contains a large choice of sharing options, similar to tapas style. We had 4 options, the Crispy Tuna, Spicy Shrimp, the Spicy Garlic noodles and the Sechzuan Lamb noodles as our main meal and then the Caramel Dessert. W...

Reviews Summary

Kettner Exchange is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere, stunning decor, and inventive handcrafted cocktails, making it a top spot for social gatherings and dates. While many rave about the delicious food, with standout dishes like the duck meatball and crispy tuna, some diners have noted inconsistencies in service and challenges with allergy accommodations.

"We absolutely love Kettner Exchange—it’s easily one of our all-time favorites in the area! Whether it’s day drinks on the outdoor patio, celebratory dinners with friends, or Sunday brunches just the two of us, it never disappoints.

The lively atmosphere, great service, and amazing food and drinks make every visit special. Highly recommend stopping in—no matter the occasion, you’re sure to have a great time!"

"Came here with some friends for Sunday brunch. The decor in this place is so intriguing and the vibe was good too. We were seated on the 2nd floor where a DJ was playing. The waitress checked on us frequently which was nice. I had the biscuit and gravy. The presentation was a nice touch. My biscuit was made into a pig! :)
The biscuit was delicious but the gravy was very salty. I wouldn’t recommend this as your first meal to eat here. But it’s a nice vibe if you just want to chill and meet up with friends or a date."

Tykeshia

"Kettner Exchange is a fun and vibrant restaurant, a perfect place to start your night or to even have your night. I was taken away by the ambience, the warm lights, dimly lit, and a dj playing house music. I absolutely loved the atmosphere. I felt that we didn’t actually have “service,” it was more of getting your order and quickly dropping it off. I would’ve appreciated if the service was more personal, but nothing was bad. The food was all delicious, but I couldn’t help but feel that something was missing from the food. Still very amazing though! I highly recommend the duck meatball, it melted in your mouth and I’ve never had grits so good! The crispy tuna was delicious, and they accommodated my avocado allergy. The lamb noodles were also yummy, the sauce just tasted warm and the lamb was so tender. Don’t skip on the molten chocolate cake!"

Best Restaurants in San Diego's Little Italy to Eat at Right Now

Rarely does the design of a restaurant impress as much as its food, but that happens to be the case at Kettner Exchange. An homage to San Diego founding father William Kettner, this stunning, 10,000-square-foot, indoor-outdoor space—including a sprawling rooftop patio with private cabanas for dining—is the ideal spot for boozy brunches and dinner dates. The globally inspired menu provides a taste for everyone; by day, you’ll find Okonomiyaki Roasted Potatoes, Hummus Halloumi Toast, and pork-belly-stuffed Pig Mac “Bao”, and by night, you’ll dig into Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, Sonoma Lamb Szechuan Noodles, and Harissa-Grilled Selva Shrimp.

Kettner Exchange might be the only clubstaurant in San Diego with legitimately good food. Or dig into assertively numbing and spicy Szechuan frog legs, and a giant duck meatball that outshines most Italian restaurants.
