Reviews Summary

Marc Heu Patisserie Paris is celebrated for its visually stunning and exceptionally delicious French pastries, with many hailing croissants as the closest to authentic Parisian quality. The charming ambiance and friendly staff enhance the experience. However, some patrons note that popular items sell out very quickly, and a few have found certain pastries to be less satisfying or the overall experience to be overhyped for the price.

"Marc Heu Pâtisserie Paris on Selby Ave is a gem in Saint Paul—an upscale yet welcoming bakery that feels like a slice of Paris. The atmosphere is calming, with soft jazz in the background and elegant touches throughout. We arrived at 1:15 pm and nearly everything was sold out, which shows how loved this place is. Only a handful of butter croissants and one chocolate croissant remained. We grabbed the last chocolate croissant ($5.50), a Passionfruit & Raspberry Tart ($12), and a 12 oz lavender & honey latte ($5). Each item was outstanding: the croissant had perfect flaky layers, the tart was stunning and full of vibrant flavor, and the latte was smooth with a lovely floral sweetness. The kind staff packaged our order beautifully in a cake box tied with a silky black ribbon, which made the experience feel extra special. Everything exceeded expectations. Next time, we’ll arrive much earlier in the day to enjoy more of their pastry offerings. A must-visit for lovers of French baking."

"I absolutely love these treats! I feel like I go and grab something every other week or so from this place. Not only are they pretty and exquisite, they are delicious! I usually try to order ahead because they sell out pretty quickly and even then lines can be crazy long just to pick up an order. But that just shows how good these are, so totally worth it. my recommendation is to just order ahead if you can"

Sarahi Garza

"100% all in for their new vegan options!!!! They are the size of my palm!! They are flakey and buttery. Can’t wait to dry the other options. I also got their mocha latte with oat milk and it was so smooth and good. The atmosphere is pretty and chill, the service was fast and great."

Minneapolis-St. Paul's Best Bakeries

Raised in an abandoned cow barn in French Guiana, Marc Heu’s journey to James Beard-nominated pastry chef was anything but ordinary. After moving to Minnesota to be with his wife, Heu opened his eponymous bakery, and the demand was overwhelming. No wonder why, either – Heu's artistic, exacting, superlatively delicious confections are some of the best our state has to offer, and the bakery often sells out hours after opening.

Literally — his name is written in large block letters on the front of his expanded bakery and cafe in St. Paul. But the journey to get to that point (medical school, working the family farm, culinary school and trendy New York bakeries) was a long one. His impeccable pastries never compromise on French technique, but he adds a twist of his own by celebrating the tropical fruits he grew up with in South America.
