Reviews Summary

Temple Coffee Roasters is highly praised for its exceptional quality coffee, particularly the espresso-based drinks made with their signature Dharma blend. Patrons also rave about the welcoming atmosphere and the knowledgeable, friendly baristas. While the coffee is consistently excellent, some reviewers noted a lack of amenities like an oven for heating pastries, which left food items cold.

"Temple Coffee is a fantastic destination for coffee lovers seeking quality and community. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes it easy to relax or focus. Their baristas are passionate and knowledgeable, always eager to recommend their favorite brews or share brewing tips. The menu offers a diverse selection, from bold espresso drinks to intricate pour-overs, all crafted with care. One of the standout features of Temple Coffee is their commitment to sustainability; they prioritize ethically sourced beans and environmentally friendly practices, which adds to the overall positive experience. The space itself is inviting, with comfortable seating and a modern aesthetic that encourages both work and socializing. Whether you're stopping by for a quick caffeine fix or settling in for a leisurely coffee break, Temple Coffee consistently delivers exceptional quality and service. It's truly a gem for anyone who appreciates great coffee in a friendly setting."

"3.5 stars: Fantastic coffee!! Absolutely adored the vanilla oat latte- one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It was flavored well, it was just sweet enough, and the coffee was nice and fresh. The servers were also very polite and helpful in making my drink. That said, we also ordered a cheese and chive scone, a ham and cheese croissant, and a chocolate croissant. I was pretty disappointed that they didn’t have an oven to heat up our food - it seemed kind of basic? The food was good, but stone cold. Next time I come, I’ll bring a microwave for everyone to use :)"

"Coolest shop I’ve been to in ages.

Extremely cool vibe: spacious building, great decor, penny floor, cool merch, ample seating, and nice ambient music.

I loved that they had a sample carafe off a pourover out for people to try.

Had a Costa Rica natural pourover and a croissant and both were great!"

Each of the four Temple locations on the grid offer different aesthetics, but what we especially like about the S Street location is its ample patio (note: the 9th street location also has outdoor seating), convenient location (right off of 99/50/80 junction), and proximity to the Sacramento Natural Foods Co-Op (right next door!). Patio Perks: With shade-casting canopies for the day and strings of globe lights for the night, you can find folks working, catching up, reading, drawing, writing and meeting up at all hours. Sacramento Coffee Shops: Your Ultimate Guide To The Capital's Best Brews

Sacramento, often recognized as the capital city of California, boasts a history as rich and varied as its burgeoning coffee culture. While the city was founded in 1849, its coffee scene has truly blossomed in recent decades, moving far beyond the simple diner brew to embrace a sophisticated and diverse array of craft coffee experiences. This evolution mirrors a broader trend across California, but Sacramento has carved out its own unique identity, characterized by a strong emphasis on local businesses, sustainable practices, and innovative beverage creation.

The 2024 Sacramento Coffee Lover’s Guide

Temple Coffee wasn’t the first specialty roaster and cafe on the scene in Sacramento; indeed, its founder, Sean Kohmescher, cut his teeth 20 years ago at Naked Coffee. But there’s no denying Temple’s status today as the region’s dominant specialty coffee player.
