Reviews Summary
Hawks Public House is praised for its excellent food, creative cocktails, and attentive service, offering a refined New American and Italian-inspired dining experience. While many rave about the unique flavor combinations and dishes like the tuna appetizer and rigatoni, some find the portions small and the price point to be on the higher side. The restaurant can also get quite loud during peak hours, impacting the overall ambiance for some diners.
"Guys! What can I say about this place? It’s absolutely amazing. I don’t know if this restaurant has a Michelin star, but it definitely should.
The food is excellent. The combination of flavors is refined, and the presentation is top-notch.
All in all, we were pleasantly surprised."

"We went on a random Tuesday night and wait times for drinks and food are long. Waitress was super nice and kept us updated and apologized for short staff but I suppose there’s a certain expectation for nice restaurants like this. Food was amazing, great flavors and done in unique ways. The tuna takes the cake here, super well done app. Drinks are done well here too, good selection at the bar. The chocolate cookie and ice cream was the perfect way to end the night"

"We decided to give this place a try after eyeballing it for a while. Wasn’t sure what to expect, but we were quite underwhelmed. We ordered the Kennebec fries to start, and they were some of the crunchiest fries I’ve ever had. The texture reminded me of in n out but thicker, lacked seasoning other than parmesan and chives, hurt my teeth after couple of em. The parmesan was very flavorful and the dip made them eatable.
We then ordered the pork belly appetizer and carbonara next. The pork belly was the best out of the 3 dishes. Very light yet nice smokey flavor and soft texture. It came with watermelon radishes that added a sweet pinch to it. The carbonara though, was probably the most bland one I have ever had. I have been to Italy and around couple of good restaurants to know what a good authentic carbonara is, unfortunately this dish wasnt worth it here, especially for $32 and a 2% surcharge which is a different issue (I firmly believe that the restaurant workers should be fairly compensated by the restaurant and not worded towards the consumer to blame for unfairly wages that restaurant is not paying the workers).
Anyway some other positives - the staff was nice and the Arnold palmer i ordered was really refreshing albeit sour.
Other big negative - it was really hot inside, took away from the experience a bit. Will definitely not be coming back here anytime soon."

30 Things Every Sacramentan Must Eat
Since Hawks took flight in 2007, the fine-dining restaurant’s exotic array of house-made pâtés, terrines and salame has drawn a flock of visitors to Granite Bay, including local chefs like South’s Ian Kavookjian and Mikuni’s Taro Arai. The plate will always vary, but diners can expect it to be adorned with morsels of culinary artistry like bacon-wrapped liverwurst made with duck liver, pork shoulder, white wine and onions; paper-thin slices of zesty fennel-and-black-pepper salami; or rich, creamy duck liver mousse. Served with garlicky toasted bread, tangy pickles and tart mustards, the result is a carnivorous carnival of tastes and textures.
s best restaurants: Where to eat in 2021
Hawks can be almost intimidatingly formal (how many places kept doing a $120 tasting menu into last October?) but there’s no denying chefs, owners and partners Molly Hawks and Mike Fagnoni’s training and selection of their staff. Granite Bay’s ritziest restaurant does traditional French/Italian fine dining exceptionally well down to the nubs; we scraped up every bit of the mashed potatoes soaked in red wine jus under the short ribs entree. Duck seems to persist through seasonal menu changes, appearing on housemade charcuterie boards and as a perfectly crispy confit.
Best New Restaurants
Fans of upscale Hawks in Granite Bay were in for a shock when owners Molly Hawks and Michael Fagnoni opened this midtown Sacramento outpost. It’s a casual counterpoint to the original Hawks, serving house-made pastas, charcuterie boards and shareable snacks like potato chips with French onion dip. But the rustic, Mediterranean-style food here is as thoughtfully made and packed with flavor as at the mother ship.
