However, I booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn using points I had racked up on my Hilton Honors card…because we can’t splurge for every trip. It was comfortable enough for one night, but the 21c Museum Hotel is at the top of my list for the next trip.

The All-American Trail follows along the side of the Crystal Bridges Trail and has many points where you can exit and enter the paved area. All-American is ranked as a blue trail, which is one step above easy. It is mostly doable for beginners but there is a steep portion that we found quite difficult about 0.8 miles from where we began at the southern edge of the Slaughter Pen Trail System.

We wanted to stay at a place nearby all of these activities, and the Best Western Plus Castle Rock Inn and Suites offered to host us in exchange for our honest review.

If you were at the Bentonville downtown square, then you can take the trail starting at Compton Gardens headed toward the Crystal Bridges Museum. It's a beautiful trail, well-lit, with benches. Orchard Park which is east of the museum is a large park with tennis & volleyball courts, soccer fields, picnic sites, and is also very well landscaped for people jogging or walking their animals.

The first thing you must do in Bentonville is explore the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art. Not only is it free to visit (barring special exhibitions at a cost), but the building is a work of art in itself, designed by architect Moshe Safdie. Their renters included art aficionados coming to see Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, corporate relocations, groups of women on girls’ trips, two young women and their father who came during Walmart’s Shark Tank week to pitch a product, mountain bikers coming to ride the trails and a family that stayed six weeks while the mother was interning at the Wal-Mart home office pharmacy.

A small boutique chain, it is within walking distance of Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the local farmer’s market (held every Saturday until the end of October), a splash park that becomes an ice rink in the winter, and a variety of restaurants, food trucks, and eclectic, privately owned shops located in the downtown area.

An amazing museum of American art, and our favorite part are the trails around it, connecting you to downtown one way, and sea of mountain bike trails the other way!. If you want to walk to the museum from downtown (highly recommend!) start from the Compton Gardens trail head area, about a block or two from the Bentonville square!

The exponential growth of Bentonville over the past 10 years was ignited by the opening of this architectural wonder. The Crystal Bridges Museum and surrounding grounds are perfect for a family day out. It may be a place you’ll even want to spend more than one day.

A couple of blocks north of the Bentonville town square the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art houses one of the largest collections of American art from all eras. Founded by Alice Walton in 2011 it contains many pieces from the Walton’s private collection.

Known as the Bachman-Wilson House, this Usonian home designed by Frank Lloyd Wright was preserved, acquired, and moved to the Crystal Bridges museum grounds in 2015. Free tickets, which can be booked here, are required to visit because of capacity constraints.

The Orchard Trail provides access to Crystal Bridges Museum Of American Art main entrance from Orchards Park and NE J Street. The trail features the Buckyball, Hydration Station (for water and soft drinks) and an evergreen forest. It is a cement paved surface.

Tom and Steuart Walton had become avid mountain bikers in college. When the Walton Family Foundation decided to invest in footpaths, the grandsons made sure a chunk of that money went to mountain bike trails.

On one program he showcased the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. I was enthralled and knew immediately that somehow or other by hook or by crook, I was going to visit it!

The Museum opened in 2011 and we've heard pretty amazing reviews of the place, but being "inside" when the weather is nice is always a struggle for us, so we had been putting off the trip until now.
