Reviews Summary
Diners at Blue Atlas rave about the globally-inspired, innovative menu and the warm, inviting atmosphere, often highlighting the stunning views and exceptional service. While many praise the unique dishes and creative cocktails, a few have found the portions small for the price.
"My husband, Justin, and I hosted our wedding welcome dinner here last November, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From start to finish, Rachel and Abby went above and beyond to make the evening so special, helping us curate everything from the appetizers, dinner, and dessert menu to crafting custom cocktails (named after our dogs!!!) and thoughtfully arranging the space. Their team was an absolute joy to work with—so professional, accommodating, and genuinely invested in making our night perfect. Our friends and family are still raving about the incredible food, space, and service. It was the perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend, and I can't recommend them highly enough!"

"Loved the selections we tried from the new menu! You eat with your eyes first and the Crudité Toast was a visual and gastronomic delight. Also enjoyed the Lamb Arayes, and Jamaican Beef Patties, but the Chicken Caesar with the yummy anchovy bread crumbs, Lomo Saltado with the spiced fries and the Shrimp Wontons with the chili crunch were fantastic! The Chocolate Pistachio Pie was the perfect ending to another wonderful date night. Thank you Rachel and Ben for your consistently delicious and innovative creations. We cannot wait to try some of the other new selections during our next visit. Thank you Abby, Katie, Lillian, Audrey, Brianna and everyone on the team who make our evenings at Blue Atlas so special."

"Very interesting tapas place with wonderful cocktails and desserts! Their special basque cheesecake was such a hit. The pork bao was also soft and savory"

Where to Eat in Richmond, Virginia
When vegetarian and vegan dishes are your jam, it’s good to know that Rachel Best, chef and co-owner at Blue Atlas, tucked in a renovated school on Fulton Hill, was executive chef at Boulder’s Leaf and has been vegetarian for more than 15 years. With her husband, co-owner and co-chef, Ben Watters, a classically trained chef with stints at Lemaire and Brenner Pass, they’ve created a menu that’s a world tour: Americas, Europe, Asia, Middle East, and Africa. The firepits below the portico and the view overlooking the city are twinkling delights, and the dishes sparkle, too.
Best & Worst 2024: Food & Drink
After working for Blue Bee Cider for a nearly a decade, couple and music lovers Taylor Benson and Mackenzie Smith purchased Virginia’s first urban cidery in 2023. At their new taproom, expect to hear anything from Phish to Anderson .Paak playing, and stay tuned for the special fall release of Fanfare. "Fans collect mulberries and bring them to us, and we freeze them until we’re ready to use them,” Smith says.
