PJ and Company in midtown Reno is definitely worth checking out. Service was slow, but the food makes up for it! The breakfast and lunch menu is extensive, plenty of options. Their eggs benedict was amazing. #reno #brunch #renofoodie #midtownreno #breakfast

Reviews Summary

PJ & Company is a long-standing local favorite praised for its generous portions and homemade comfort food, particularly its breakfast options. Reviewers highlight the friendly and attentive service, and the vast menu ensures something for everyone. However, some guests have noted inconsistent preparation, with certain dishes like the chicken fried steak or potatoes not meeting expectations.

"I love this place. Busy Sunday morning, the smells walking in just comfort you. We have come here for over 35 years. We are on the fourth generation asking to go here.
We had a short wait and then yum. I ordered a salad, and my granddaughter had the kids pancake plate. We colored their kids' coloring page while waiting. Our breakfast did not disappoint.
Their salads are so big. I ate yet when I was full, and I still had a full box to take home. My granddaughter enjoys the honey butter cornbread. We added a take-home order on our meal to finish. Everything was ready to go at the same time. It was fun to watch the different sporting games from our table. It was a very busy restaurant but I felt we had enough to ourselves. Yes, I will keep coming back for another 35 years. 😊🥰"

"3-star general here. When you read the 3-star reviews and they’re consistent with the issue or complaint, no other warnings needed. The food here was solid, with the corned beef hash easily stealing the show—flavorful, well-seasoned, and exactly what you want in a breakfast dish. The chicken fried steak was a bit different from the traditional pan-fried skirt steak, with only a light breading, making it just okay. The sourdough toast lacked that distinct tangy bite, and the non-dairy coffee creamer had an artificial sweetness that didn’t quite hit right. That said, the coffee never hit empty—refills were nonstop—and the service was great, making for an overall good experience."

"The restaurant is a good vibe but the biscuits and gravy look better than they taste. The potatoes were not fully cooked unfortunately. But they definitely got the eggs cooked correctly. It's just my honest opinion that the chicken fried steak was not good. Quite tough. I would go there again though I just know what I would order from there. The corned beef hash with substitute for the potatoes. I would still try lunch and dinner."

Reno’s Food Scene Is on a Winning Streak

These relatively newer establishments join a cherished old guard of classics that includes PJ & Company, an all-day diner serving a stick-to-your-ribs breakfast of corn beef hash and chili cheese omelets. Since 1967, Louis Basque Corner has served family-style staples like oxtail stew and roast lamb (a legacy from a wave of Basque immigrants settling in the city starting in the 19th century).

Controversial take: PJ & Co. on Wells does a better Benedict than Peg’s (and I love Peg’s). Ask for the “secret” menu.
