Try Brighton Suites (about a block/and a half from the beach. It has a indoor pool if it rains. Closer to beach I would say try Oceanus Motel, Atlantic Sands, Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. The kids would love (and adults too!!) Grotto Pizza, and Funland. Funland has very cheap rides!!. It's always on our to-do list..

You can’t drive more than a few miles near Rehoboth Beach without seeing a Grotto Pizza. For over 60 years, this ubiquitous regional icon has supplied families with some of the best pizza around. You can try the Buffalo chicken, the Hawaiian, or one of the other specialty pizzas, but the original is most well-known—with melted cheese and a swirl of sauce on top, it’s proof that good things stand the test of time.

Well known Grotto Pizza originally hails from Northeast PA. More than 50 years ago, founder Dominick Pulieri brought his pizza making talent from Joe’s Restaurant in Harvey’s Lake to Rehoboth Beach (the original Joe’s is now a Grotto Pizza). Known for their (some think) unorthodox signature of putting the sauce on top of the cheese, you can’t argue with success. They have 23 locations.

If you’re from the Delaware/Maryland area then I know you’ll already be very familiar with Grotto Pizza. However, for people like me who only get to visit Delaware in the summer, then you’ll know that grabbing a hot cheese pizza from Grotto’s is the ultimate treat. I seriously dream about this pizza all year long, and it’s usually the first meal we have once we get there.

Grotto Pizza is a regional chain that began in Rehoboth Beach in 1960. The restaurant now has over 20 locations across Maryland, Delaware and Pennsylvania, including four in Rehoboth. Enjoy both traditional and signature pizzas, including the Buffalo Chicken pizza, Classic Margherita and even pizza made with gluten-free crust.

There’s Grotto Pizza, with its crisp-bottomed pies slathered in thick, just-sweet tomato sauce and blanketed with a signature swirl of molten cheese, which gives the pizza the ringed appearance of an ancient log sliced open. Eat a slice too quickly and you’re likely to burn a layer of skin from the roof of your mouth.

There are Grotto Pizza locations everywhere in the Delaware beach towns, and they're very popular among visiting families. But despite the chain advertising its pizza's "legendary taste," it is certainly not gourmet pizza. Still, Grotto is a fun place to take the kids, who will love the on-site arcade games.

As much time as I've spent in Rehoboth you would think that I would have tried Nikolas pizza...always had Grottos. Our kids and grandkids just got home from Rehoboth today and they tried Nikolas for the first time. Their comments...the best pizza they ever ate.

They have a handful of seaside and avenue locations within Rehoboth Beach to choose from. Definitely check out the one right on the boardwalk for the best atmosphere. Another laid back inclusion, Grotto’s is famous for their pizza with swirled sauce.

Kid Shelleen's, Rehoboth Ale House, Anthony's Coal Fired, Crooked Hammock, Stewart's Brewing, Grotto Pizza, 2 Fat Guys, Dead Presidents, Timothy's of Newark, Stanley's Tavern and Two Stones Pub also advanced to the round of 16.

So grab a slice at Grotto Pizza, try the Big Daddy Funnel Cake at Starkey's Funnel Cake Factory, get your seafood fix at Obie's By the Sea, and enjoy live music on the boardwalk. There's no shortage of things to see and do.

Restaurants such as Grotto Pizza and Nicola Pizza, with locations throughout the resort, are also good bets to get in fairly easily. They have a quick turn around of service and several larger tables to get people seated.

The formula for a great sports bar is simple: HD-TVs show all the big games, sports memorabilia covers the walls, and munchies and pitchers flow. Grotto on Concord Pike does all that well. Then there are drink specials.

The Grotto has been a beachfront favorite for decades — it opened in 1960. For kid-friendly food that’ll please grandparents, too, check out outdoor seating at one of the locations along the boardwalk in Rehoboth.

Those were the days when 17 year-old Dominick Pulieri himself was tossing pizzas at Grotto, and Tim and Tony Gouvas weren’t much taller than the counter at George’s Lunch (now the current Louie’s Pizza).

Grotto Pizza (multiple locations): It’s not for everyone, but if you’ve never tried Grotto’s “swirled” pizza, you really should, if only because it’s one of the few distinctive local specialties.

Our first time to rehoboth beach we decided to try this pizza place. My daughter got a cheesesteak and I got one slice of pizza. The cheesesteak was ok but the pizza was the best I have ever had.

It is likely written into Rehoboth Beach’s town code that visitors must have at least one slice of Grotto pizza on each visit. A town institution, Grotto Pizza does a slice right.

That evening, they’ll return for a slice of Grotto Pizza, Dolle’s caramel popcorn, or Kohr Brothers soft serve. Rehoboth arguably has the best beach food in the Mid-Atlantic.
