Reviews Summary

Dos Taquitos is celebrated for its unique, vibrant atmosphere and the fun experience of having appetizers delivered by a toy train. Diners rave about the delicious homestyle Mexican food, particularly the steak tacos and carnitas, and the well-crafted margaritas. While parking can be challenging and the restaurant can get loud, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the friendly service and unique decor.

"Entering the parking lot alone brought me to Mexico. They have an iconic Kombi parked right out front that made me smile! What's even better, they have a chicken pen where they collect eggs from and have little baggies for their customers to take home with! The inside of the restaurant is VERY much alive! The color is so vibrant, the art work around the restaurant is beautiful, the atmosphere is AMAZING! I love that they have trains that bring you queso, guacamole, some side dishes, and even ice cream! You do have to request to sit by it as it's not available for every table. I ordered the Green Chilaquiles and they were SO TASTY! I also ordered a cup of their Pozole which was very delightful as well! Will definitely come back!!"

Efrain Gomez

"The booths are a teeny bit of a tight fit in some areas and parking is tricky but otherwise I love this place. Second time I've been, delicious food and friendly staff. My friend who lived in New York said she dreams about the steak tacos. I had the carnitas that are beer marinated and they were so tender and flavorful. Will be glad to come back again sometime. The live chicken coop is a super fun feature as well! It's a good idea to make a reservation here it was packed even at 5pm on a Friday."

Erin Glosser

"Had a wonderful time here with a big group of friends for a birthday. The chicken coup outside was cool and unexpected. The carnitas were dry, but the enchiladas and the salsa were amazing. I would definitely come back. It’s nice they allow large party reservations. Hard to find parking when it’s busy."

The 25 Best Restaurants in Raleigh in 2022

Dos Taquitos This Latina-owned unique family-style Mexican mainstay has been keepin’ the fiesta alive in Raleigh with its flavorful fare for 30-plus years. A go-to since it splashed on the scene in 1991, its colorful, kitschy vibe only serves to up the authenticity factor for a menu dedicated to the taste and spirit of Mexico. Worth knowing: Upon immigrating to the U.S., original owner Carlos Salamanca moonlit in a Georgia Mexican restaurant for tuition money, where he spied the cooks preparing authentic Mexican dishes for themselves that varied from the menu—and, well, it was love at first bite.

Every Wednesday at 6 p.m., margarita and running faithfuls meet up for a run through Historic Oakwood and back to Centro. Mexican Restaurants in the Triangle That You Need to Try!

Dos Taquitos is one of the oldest Mexican restaurants in the Triangle and has been around longer than I have!. They’ve been serving incredible food since 1991 and are known for their wild, beautiful aesthetic with every inch of the restaurant being covered in fabric, skeletons, colors, flowers, and more. We love the Mis Garnachas: Sweet potato patties smothered with refried beans and a spicy chorizo hash and topped with lettuce, pico de gallo, mexican cream, queso fresco and avocado.
