This perennial favorite with magnificent harbor views focuses on local seafood and organic meat and produce with a cross-cultural flair (there's also a lighter bistro menu for smaller appetites). The view of the bay from the bar is nearly perfect, and the gentle lighting makes this a romantic spot to have a drink. This is one of the relatively few restaurants open year-round in town.

Everything takes just a little longer in Ptown—you’re on beach time, after all—so it’s no surprise that structural renovations to the Mews’s home at 429 Commercial Street are taking a little longer than planned. Luckily, you can still find the restaurant’s punchy and spice-forward vindaloo, served with rice and chutney down the road at the Mews Popup at the Waterford Inn. At the site of the former Spindler’s, the slimmed-down version of the Mews dishes out favorites like heavenly lobster dumplings in a ginger-lemongrass broth, rosemary-marinated Colorado lamb chops, plus a healthy helping of vegan options, which you can enjoy in the indoor restaurant and out on the lovely deck.

We had dinner here on Tuesday night and while downtown Ptown was quiet as a mouse the inside of the Mews had a dining room full of people with the most lovely atmosphere!. Our food and service were both fantastic, with lots of choices to suit any persons palate. Chef Zia has done an amazing job of creating a menu that also provides gluten free and vegan options.

Our first dinner was at The Mews Restaurant & Cafe, which is co-owned by Ron Robin, who we met during dinner. Known as Rockin' Ron, he also works as a radio personality on Dunes 102.3 FM. The original location of the restaurant, in 1964, was discovered to have once been a stable, and the old English word for stable is "mews," hence the restaurant's name.
