What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
KNEAD Doughnuts is celebrated for its high-quality, artisanal doughnuts made with fresh, local ingredients and a wide array of unique and seasonal flavors. While many praise the delicious taste, generous size, and inclusive vegan options, some find the prices to be on the higher side for a doughnut. Despite occasional comments about dryness or less intense flavors, the overall consensus points to a delightful treat experience.
"There seems to be a debate for the best donut shop in the area, and I can say it's Knead Doughnuts, hands down. I've been going to this location since they opened, and the quality has been consistent throughout the years. Yes, the donuts are a little pricey, but they're really big and really delicious. I haven't recieved a single dry donut from them. My all-time favorite is the raspberry fritter, which tastes like tart, fresh raspberries, and I really like old fashioned cake donuts with the hard glaze. I haven't tried the gluten free donuts, but the vegan ones are just as good as the regular ones. An honorable mention would be the jelly donut because the jelly tastes like fresh jam. If you are picky about donuts and like a hard glazed cake donut, or a fluffy yeast donut, they have both, and both are great. I do recommend going as early as possible to make sure you get the ones you want."

"Super cute on the inside, great customer service- the employees were so kind and helpful. They did not have crounuts? when I went (on a weekday) but I did try their jelly donut and coffee cake donut. The raspberry jelly was good but it took many bites to get to the jelly, because it was so sweet and rich, it was overwhelming at the end and I couldn’t finish it. On the other hand, the coffee cake donut was delicious- award winning. Everything was super fresh and tasted delicious."

"Knead to try harder…mediocre donuts at epicurean prices. Purchased two donuts, an expired milk and a water for $15. Donuts were day olds…despite being there an hour after opening. Good flavor (blueberry lemon and strawberry shortcake) but super dry to the point we didn’t finish. They were nice an about the expired milk and then checked the whole case, but were nonverbal during the purchase. Clearly not morning people."

Best things to do in Providence, an arts-and-food-loving city
That said, you won’t go wrong beginning a day at Knead Doughnuts in the downtown business district. The spot is classic when it comes to design (it’s in a former bank building) and styles (jelly doughnuts, fritters) but utterly modern when it comes to flavors and techniques. The brown butter-pecan and pistachio flavors are both musts, and there are lots of vegan and gluten-free options.
