Reviews Summary
Jahunger Providence is praised for its authentic and flavorful Uyghur cuisine, especially its signature hand-pulled noodles and delicious lamb dumplings. While the ambiance is cozy, some diners note that it can get crowded, and parking might be a challenge. The decadent honey cake is a standout dessert, making it a highly recommended spot for those seeking unique flavors and hearty dishes.
"Really lovely little eatery! Had heard lots of good reviews so came in with high expectations and this did not disappoint! Got the laghman noodles (hand pulled noodles with bell pepper, mushroom, tomato and beef). Loved the texture of the noodles and the portion size was great (even had extra to take home). Also lamb dumplings were so succulent and delicious! Friends had the original meefen and also said that was good. Service was friendly and quick. Also got the honey cake with coffee ice cream to go- incredible and so decadent!"

"Not mind-blowing, but overall pretty decent. The second floor was a nice little surprise. The noodles in the big plate chicken were actually pretty good. The fried rice noodles and green beans were tasty too. The skewers are probably some of the more authentic ones around. The homemade yogurt was just so-so—wouldn’t recommend it."

The bowl is packed with that addictive heat that keeps you coming back. If spice and texture are your thing, this place hits the mark."

Things to Do in Providence, Rhode Island—New England's Diverse Culinary Destination
At Jahunger, chef Subat Dilmurat is turning heads with his fiery hand-pulled noodles and bold Uyghur flavors. New Haven-inspired slices might steal the show at Pizza Marvin, but save room for the creamy, sweet, slightly savory, and totally unexpected flavors—think focaccia and mandarinquat, strawberry, and toasted rice, or hazelnut ice cream twisted with grape sorbet. Chef Robert Andreozzi and his business partner, Jesse Hedberg, are also set to open a nostalgic bar project, Club Frills, later this year.

The two-story home that was recently coated in a deep shade of navy blue paint is unassuming from the outside. Inside is Jahunger, a Uyghur restaurant with white walls contrasting its brightly-colored fare: affordable plates of handmade ding ding noodles with diced rainbow peppers, and stir-fried string beans seasoned with mildly spicy dry chilis. Chef-owner Subat Dilmurat, who was named a James Beard semifinalist for the Best Chef: Northeast award earlier this year, grew up in his parents’ restaurants in Xinjiang, China.
25 Must-Visit Restaurants in Providence, Rhode Island
Uyghur food is hard to find around Rhode Island, but Jahunger gives curious diners a delicious education on the cuisine, particularly when it comes to hand-pulled noodles. Try the restaurant’s eponymous noodle dish for a good example of these, seasoned with a tingly Sichuan peppercorn-based sauce, or the garlicky chicken stew, with thin, broad noodles, potatoes, green peppers, and tons of spices. (Bostonians, a Cambridge location opened recently too!)
10 Must-Try Asian Restaurants in Providence
Jahunger is a trendy Uyghur restaurant on Wickenden that is particularly popular for its variety of well-seasoned noodles and dumplings. This Asian restaurant is modern and cozy, making it the perfect place for a weekend lunch or dinner date. The service is also very accommodating, so I definitely recommend stopping by Jahunger instead of ordering it for pick up or delivery.
