Reviews Summary

Aleppo Sweets is celebrated for its exceptional baklava and authentic Syrian cuisine, offering a delightful culinary journey. While the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff are frequently praised, some guests have found the self-service setup a bit confusing. Overall, it's a highly recommended spot for those seeking a taste of the Middle East. Reddit

"Wow! The baklava has been on my list to try for a while. I’m so glad I finally made it in and it was a sweet afternoon treat. Perfect place to grab a coffee and treat to catchup with someone. Don’t skip on the Turkish coffee! Can get busy, but it’s worth the wait."

linda

"Really cozy spot with a nice vibe, loved the atmosphere and the decor. The staff was super welcoming and helpful, which we appreciated. The bathroom was very clean and smelled good. We tried the cheese fatayar, chicken shawarma, chicken kabab, Hummus, chocolate baklava, kunafa, and Arabic coffee.

The cheese fatayar was a standout, seriously tasted like something straight from the Middle East! Reminded me of home! Hummus and bread were good portion! The chocolate baklava and kunafa were also delicious and hit the spot.

The chicken shawarma had good flavor but was a bit too drenched in sauce, so the texture of the chicken kind of disappeared. The chicken kabab was decent, but for $15, the portion felt pretty small, plus no rice included, and some veggies

The Arabic coffee was alright. It was a bit too dark and didn’t have the flavor we were hoping for.

One thing that threw us off was the self-service setup. We were confused about how to order, where to get silverware, napkins, water, etc., and ended up having to get up several times during the meal. There’s a small cart by the kitchen door where you return dirty dishes, get water, and so on, but it’s tucked into a tight corner and wasn’t explained up front.

That said, we still really liked a lot about this place and plan to come back to try more of the menu now that we understand how things operate. Maybe we’ll come at a less busy time next visit."

"Probably the best meal I’ve had in 2025. Def do not skip the baklava, and you definitely get a lot of value for the prices (big portions!) Glassware was also very fun.

Ordered:
- chicken kabob
- mezze platter w/ grape leaves & baba ganoush
- spicy chicken shawarma wrap
- fatayer, lamb & pepper
- iced blackberry drink
- turkish coffee with milk"

25 Must-Visit Restaurants in Providence, Rhode Island

With “sweets” right in its name, this café—gorgeously appointed to pay homage to the Syrian city that owners Youssef and Reem Akhtarini hail from—is the perfect place to savor the baklava of your dreams. Here you’ll find phyllo purses stuffed with orange blossom water-tossed pistachios and drizzled with simple syrup, as well as layers of crispy dough topped with almond slivers. If you can avoid the temptation to skip to dessert, the café menu also features excellent kabobs and soaring renditions of mezze favorites (zippy tabbouleh salad, for one, and hummus with the right kick of lemon).

If you’re craving baklava — the delightful Middle Eastern pastry layered with phyllo dough, nuts and sugary syrup — this authentic Syrian bakery and cafe serves up more than ten varieties. Our favorites include the ice cream-infused sweet treat and the bride’s bracelet with its pistachios and pretty presentation. You can also find other sweet staples like stuffed dates, or, if you happen to be in a savory mood, try one of the meze platters, or the Syrian street-food, fatayer meat pies.

They have a few denotations on the menu, FL being flourless/wheatless. When I inquired about one of those dishes (grape leaves) and asked if it was fully gluten free, he said he couldn’t guarantee it because it had rice, and he suggested the tabbouleh instead. I understand about the rice, as it could be grown next to a wheat field.
