Reviews Summary
Woodford Food & Beverage is celebrated for its phenomenal food quality, with standout dishes like the burger, mussels, and Brussels sprouts. Diners often praise the innovative farm-to-table approach and the cozy, chic diner ambiance. However, some guests have noted that the service, while generally attentive, can occasionally be inconsistent or not quite match the high expectations set by awards and pricing.
"This place is usually packed, and for good reason, reservations are typically a must. But we lucked out with a 4:30 arrival and snagged a table with no wait.
We started with a salad, and it was the perfect side to share before diving into burgers. Crisp, fresh greens, a touch of black pepper, creamy dressing, and the sharp bite of radishes made for a light, flavorful beginning.
While we usually come here for the seafood, we were craving burgers, and they absolutely delivered. Thick, juicy, and bursting with flavor, this burger was everything we hoped for and more. The cheese was ooey, gooey, and gloriously melty, while the caramelized onions added just the right touch of sweetness. The fries? Crispy perfection. And the aioli on the side took them to the next level.
This just might be the best burger in Portland!"

"Had such a lovely time at woodford, the ambiance is laid back and relaxed but still chic in this diner setting. The food is innovative- loved the cherry salad- and the burger and sundae were really delicious. Great semi-casual date spot. Also loved having a booth!!"

"My husband and I went to Woodford for dinner on a recent trip to Portland. We had a reservation (it was a Thursday night) and were seated promptly. Our server was nice and attentive, but I have to be honest and say that for a place that was a semifinalist for a James Beard hospitality award, it wasn't the over the top great service we were expecting, there were other places we had stellar service at on this trip. The service wasn't bad by any means, but when it's touted on the website that they were James Beard nominated for hospitality, we just had higher expectations. The cocktails were good, I had the Emergency Margarita and my husband had the Best Beloved G&T. For an appetizer, we shared some oysters, which were very fresh and tasty. We also shared a salad of spring greens and shaved radishes, the creamy dressing was incredible! For my main, I had mussels and fries, the broth that the mussels were in was delicious and the mussels were perfectly cooked. My husband had the duck and while it was very good, we were a bit disappointed that it didn't come with a side (they were more garnishes) for the price. We shared the chocolate pudding for dessert, which was super rich and very good, I also had a grasshopper cocktail, which was pleasantly minty and refreshing."

New England Travel Guide: A Fall Weekend in Portland, Maine
To be totally honest, I wish we’d just done dinner at Woodford Food and Beverage. We had reservations here for pre-dinner appetizers and cocktails but it was so, so good and their outdoor space was perfection with outdoor heaters at each table and the kindest waiters. We ordered oysters, the smoked trout mousse, the soup of the day (I believe it was a chowder), and the bourbon old fashioned and I wish we’d had time to dive into the entrees.

Few restaurants do bistro-style comfort food and cocktails as well as Woodford Food & Beverage does. Chef Courtney Loreg prepares some of New England’s best brasserie-style dishes here, especially anything braised, like her smoky lamb shank entrée. Fennel-spiced fries and tart, mustard-forward deviled eggs are also perennial winners on a menu that features no losers.
