This vegetable-focused restaurant celebrates how Mediterranean flavors come together with Pacific Northwest ingredients. It's no surprise to see seasonal specials and locally-sourced produce on the menu; Tusk is owned by Submarine Hospitality (the restaurant group responsible for other Portland greats like Ava Genes, The Woodsman Tavern, and Cicoria Pizzeria). At Tusk, our favorite way to order is by mixing and matching dishes in the mezze selection, adding on a main or two depending on the size of the group.

Located in the Buckman District, it offers creative Middle Eastern and Mediterranean dishes in a light, bright space with minimalist design, artistic geometric accents, and lush greenery. I come here for the incredible mezze dishes and falafel, but their other vegetable-focused plates are also a specialty. They use farm-fresh produce and a sustainable ethos to create tasty dishes like Quinoa Tabouleh and Chanterelle Skewers with shishito peppers, green harissa, and honey.

For dinner that Sunday evening, we wanted to go to Tusk at first, then stopped at Mediterranean Exploration Company…but waiting time was more than an hour in both places. So, while looking for something nearby and considering a previous recommendation, we ended up going to Southpark Seafood on Salmon Street…only couple minutes drive from Portland waterfront. The restaurant is about 20 years old but it has upgraded its reputation recently in the last few years.

Sit back, relax and let one of Portland's top chefs, Sam Smith, take you on a magic carpet ride. Tusk, on the city's hip Eastside, sends out some of the best Middle Eastern food going around. The "feed me" menu is generous – especially at the $50 price point – and includes fluffy pita with hazelnut hummus, vibrant salads with seeds and grains, apricots and dates, and dabs of soft cheese, accompanied by smoky chilli oil.

While not an explicitly "vegetarian" restaurant, Tusk's veggie-forward menu helped change the way the city thinks about plant-based cooking. This place is easily one of the most popular farm-to-table restaurants in Portland, but not without reason. Portland folks – last night I had the pleasure of eating at @tuskpdx which was DELICIOUS – the space was inspiring (design by @jhinteriordesign ), the cocktails were WAY too easy to drink and the food was so fresh and amazing.

Tusk is a very stylish, modern restaurant that focuses on flavors of the Levant, but expressed through the Northwest's most beautiful produce. Everything is so fresh. I think that it’s best enjoyed during the day, because of the abundance of natural light that floods into the modern dining room through large windows on two sides.

The first time I went to Tusk which is in the same space as my prior Middle-Eastern favorite Levant, I didn’t want to like it. I had so many good memories, it was difficult for me to make the mental transition. But over time the restaurant has smoothed out bumps in the menu, and at this point, I’ve been won over.

What’s in it: Gouda cheese, golden raisins, crispy quinoa, Calamansi vinegar, cashews. A beautiful medley of textures and flavors, this salad nicely represents Tusk in all its glory. They’ve sliced the veggies so they are bite sized and lovely, and the infusion of golden raisins adds nice sweetness to each bite.

Tusk will immediately catch your eye with a bright and clean aesthetic that will look great in your photos. One of Tusk’s great advantages is its largely vegan and vegetarian-friendly menu.

Tusk on SE Burnside is definitely one of the cutest restaurants in Portland!. It’s definitely a favorite of mine and my friend Tonya’s. We’ve gone there several times for the ambiance and delicious Mediterranean dishes (mainly for the hummus and pita bread ;P).

Tusk's patio is a hidden gem in the bustling neighborhood of East Burnside. Surrounded by plants and adorned with Moroccan-inspired decor, this Mediterranean restaurant offers a delightful space to enjoy fresh, vegetable-focused dishes and innovative cocktails.

If the Dutch Baby at The Original Pancake House is the head of the spirit team, the one at Tusk, slouching under a little labneh-infused whipped cream, buttery roast pecans and fresh blueberries ($9), is the cool emo kid smoking cigarettes behind the gym.

This popular vegetable-forward restaurant and bar comes from Submarine Hospitality, the team behind Ava Gene’s. They serve an Israeli- and Moroccan-inspired menu that features small plates and lighter fare highlighting local veggies and whole grains.

Tusk sources all of its vegetables locally as well as most of their grains and flours. If you visit their website you can see a long list of local producers they use. They are open for dinner during the week and brunch on weekends.

The night my parents watched the kids Craig and I decided to try out a Mediterranean restaurant. Tusk kept coming up as the place to go so we figured we would give it a try. Now we know you normally need to make reservations .

Meanwhile, chef Smith (formerly of Sweedeedee and Tusk) sweats the arc and flow of the menu, backed by a slew of talented cooks, with Ninsom as spirit guide.

We love eating here for any meal whether it’s brunch ( our fav), lunch, or dinner. So it comes as no surprise that their sweets are seriously phenomenal.
