"Delicious food, cozy atmosphere.

The mixed shawarma platter hits the spot. Fresh ingredients, very generous portions, and delightfully pleasant staff. You also get oven-fresh bread with your meal ❤️ Quick food prep is a big positive as well. The perfect go-to spot for a quick meal with friends or family."

"Quite possibly the best iraqi shawarma I have ever had in Dallas. It was so juicy and delicious, the meat is seasoned to perfection. This place is busy during lunch time and for good reason; the food is amazing. 1000/10 would reccomend you to try this place and especially their shawarma."

"Amazing food! This is the food you get when you travel to the Middle Eastern. Authentic, tasty, fresh. Ordered two pots of tea, the first wasn’t as hot as it should’ve been. The second was perfect. Needed to add two plates in the middle of our meal, it took them longer because it was busy. I should’ve ordered more but also was hoping my additional plates would’ve been prioritized. All in all, I recommend it and will be coming back."

Ari Korean BBQ | The Best Restaurants In Dallas 2022: Our Top 100 List

Some of Richardson’s other Iraqi restaurants have shut down in recent years — we still miss the kebabs at Chai Khanah — but Bilad, the original and perhaps best of them all, remains a neighborhood institution. The superb bakery got its start turning out excellent samoon bread from Iraq and trays of delightful desserts like pistachio puffs and baklava. Bilad has also had an excellent kitchen serving Iraqi specialties, including some of the region’s better shawarma and falafel, zhug (an acidic hot pepper sauce), fresh tabbouleh and garlicky hummus.

Dallas, Texas, Is the 2019 Restaurant City of the Year

Richardson, just north of the city limits, is a bit of a trek, but the international eating options are worth it, from the pan-Asian delights of DFW China Town to the poufy Iraqi bread and shawarma sandwiches at Bilad Bakery to the stretchy (!) ice cream and cheesy kunafa at Syrian dessert emporium BigDash.
