What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
My Loup offers a vibrant atmosphere and an eclectic, ever-changing menu that delights many with inventive dishes. Diners frequently praise the creative small plates, the tasting menu experience, and the attentive, friendly service. However, some reviews note issues with excessive saltiness in certain dishes, a very loud environment that hinders conversation, and inconsistent food quality between visits.
"My fiancé and had a incredible dining experience at My Loup.
Beautiful lively atmosphere, and an attentive and helpful staff, ready to answer any questions regarding food and beverage options.
We ordered from the a la carte menu and all dishes were fantastic. The oysters were fresh and the pickled shrimp and crackers was unique and delicious. I am also a big fan of sour dour bread, so I had to order that, and it was amazing (the butter too). Save some to dunk in the sauces of the main courses.
The duck ribs were my favorite dish of the evening, tender, flavorful, the meat slide right off the bone.
For mains, we ordered the roast chicken and the Roasted Skate Wing ‘Piccata, both delicious, fresh and quite large portions. It was a nice touch when the chef (Alex Kemp) delivered the fish dish and explained the proper way to cut it.
Lastly, the blueberry frangipane tart was a perfect dessert to the end the meal.
The wine and cocktail list is also extensive.
I highly recommend reservations, the bar also requires reservations, we arrived about 15 minutes early and enjoyed a cocktail near the hostess stand until our table was ready."

"Disappointed experience. Got the $125 per person tasting menu. It started strong but ended very weak. Lamb and snail appetizer were very good but main course (steak, bake potato, and salad) was mediocre at best. They accidentally brought us the break down price receipt. Steak was definitely not worth $150.
Service was good. People are nice. But environment/music was way too loud. The bartender was yelling sometimes. Difficult to have a conversation."

"We first visited in October 2023 and had an incredible experience — everything was spot on. The food and drinks were fantastic, service was top notch. The steak with pumpkin , eel Caesar, and fish crudo were true standouts.
Unfortunately, when we returned last night (September 2025), the experience was far from the same. The new menu felt underwhelming, and the overall food quality had declined noticeably.
We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer, sungold tomato appetizer, and the Escar-roll to start. For mains, we tried the “à la David” chicken and the skirt steak, followed by the Mille-feuille for dessert.
The biggest disappointment was the skirt steak. We weren’t asked how we wanted it cooked, and it arrived nearly raw (blue, not even medium rare). The server didn’t check in until later, and when we explained the issue, the steak was taken back. A few minutes later, the same steak returned, reheated in the same jus. Unfortunately, it was still very rare, overly gamey from the reheating, and extremely chewy — inedible, really. We couldn’t finish the steak and informed the server again, but despite the clear issue, we were still charged the full $70 for the dish and seemed like she didn’t even cared about this issue.(The photo attached shows the steak after it was “recooked.”)
On the positive side, the chicken was enjoyable, and both the escargot dish and the dessert were highlights of the evening. Still, given our excitement to revisit after such a stellar first experience in 2023, this return was deeply disappointing. Between the service and the food, we left unsatisfied and, sadly, don’t see ourselves coming back and unfortunately had to update my review from 5 stars to 3."

Where To Eat When You're Visiting Philly - Philadelphia
Thanks to its extravagant seafood towers, modern French mains, and caviar-topped everything, this buzzy Rittenhouse restaurant works just as well for a martini-fueled group dinner as it does for a romantic night out on the town. It comes from the same team as Her Place Supper Club, but it’s easier to snag a table at this louder, boozier spot. My Loup serves technically impressive food and cocktails without any of the pretension that usually comes with it (plus they have a killer soundtrack).
Best Philly Restaurants: Hottest New Restaurants in Philadelphia
Amanda Schulman, of Her Place Supper Club, and her fiance, fellow chef Alex Kemp, opened this French-inspired restaurant that’s only open on weekdays. Within the cozy dining room, the menu highlights their past cooking experiences as well as seasonal ingredients with plenty of seafood and foie gras. Just a heads up: the “p” in My Loup is silent.
It's the People Who Make Philadelphia's Best Restaurants Worth Traveling For
From Connecticut-raised chef Amanda Shulman and her Quebecois fiancé, Alex Kemp, comes bistro My Loup, specializing in twists on French classics. The always-changing menu prioritizes the fresh and seasonal, which could mean grilled scallops with brown butter one day and roasted bone marrow with fava beans the next.
The Best French Restaurants in Philadelphia
As per French culinary traditions, pomp and circumstance are par for the course, which can sometimes come off as stuffy. Not at My Loup, though, where the tentacles of the grilled squid playfully curl around green olives speckled with Aleppo pepper and halibut is topped with house-made chips. Each component of each dish is bold and ambitious, but they’re presented with a cheeky attitude toward the old ways, like Mozart playing Salieri behind his back in the 1984 film Amadeus.
The Philadelphia Food Scene: A Magnet for Foodie Tenants
My Loup is among the most popular new restaurants in Philly. Their menu changes daily, offering an ever-changing, modern French menu that’s pleasantly unpredictable yet somehow very familiar. Whether you’re trying their half-roasted chicken, halibut, or their “Let Us Cook For You” option, you’re bound to get an excellent-tasting meal, satisfying enough to keep you coming back for more.
