Reviews Summary

Peg Leg Pete's is a lively, pirate-themed seafood spot praised for its fresh oysters and seafood dishes. While many enjoy the fun atmosphere and attentive service, be prepared for potentially long wait times, especially during peak hours. Some diners have experienced issues with food temperature or service in certain instances.

"Very good seafood, very fresh and perfectly done. I got the grouper with rice pilaf and snow peas and it was outstanding. Perfectly seasoned and cooked. There is an eclectic, pirate themed atmosphere that is great. Service was great, she was on point, quick, and attentive. Expect a wait. They do not take reservations, but you can get on their wait list ahead via Goggle Maps and or Yelp, which I highly recommend. The wait time reflected when you are on the Yelp wait list is very accurate and if you are late getting there you will miss your slot, but the hostess will try to insert you back into a short wait. Parking fills up quickly too, expect to take some time waiting, searching for parking or park at the beach access parking along the road. It is worth the wait. My family devoured their food.

Note: My wife has a gluten intolerance. She has to eat gluten-free. They do have a separate gluten-free menu with several options for appetizers and main dishes, plus the waitress explained how they cook GF items separately and take measures to prevent cross contamination very seriously. Kudos to the chefs here!"

"This place came highly recommended by some local people and from online source. We should have at 5 PM trying to beat the dinner rush but we’re told it was going to be one hour and 20 minutes to one hour and 50 minutes. due to the recommendations, we decided to stay. We went downstairs to the oyster bar where there was live music. This environment was pretty good. The service was good. The food was good. If it weren’t for this portion of the visit, I would’ve given them a one star rating. We got called out to our table around the one hour and 50 minute mark and were seated in a booth. Our waitress was not exactly unkind, but she was definitely not very pleasant and did not seem like she wanted to be there. It seemed like our questions about the menu were annoying her. Unfortunately, after spending approximately $50 per person and waiting for over two hours our food arrived and it was cold. Just to clarify, I don’t mean not hot or somewhat warm, I mean room temperature to actually colder than that. I got the mixed grill and was not asked if I would like it prepared any kind of way. It’s tough to say if it would be any better warm but I was not impressed. If you do want to go here, I highly recommend getting on the online waiting list prior to arriving. I thought this place was highly overrated."

Prepare for long lines during the summertime at this local favorite. Dig into seafood favorites at one of three dining areas—indoors, outdoors on the covered deck, or at picnic tables downstairs, near the wryly named Under Where Bar, which often has live music. Note: If you do choose to sit downstairs (near the playground, a perk for parents) no grilled dishes are available.

The 15 Best Gluten-Free Spots in Pensacola Beach

We heard that this place had awesome gluten free options for people with celiac disease (wheat allergy). When we arrived the gluten free menu was very small and our server Hillary rang in the gluten free shrimp salad in wrong not only once, but twice. She also rang in 2 orders of the crab legs for our table instead of 1 order and did not offer to take the second order off the bill.
