What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Flounder's Chowder House is celebrated for its lively atmosphere, beachfront views, and generous portions of delicious seafood. Reviewers rave about the fresh oysters, flavorful fried shrimp, and the legendary, colossal key lime pie. While the food and service are frequently praised, some visitors note that parking can be a challenge due to the restaurant's popularity.
"We came here for a quick lunch before the beach. The parking was packed so we had to park at our hotel and walk over. The food was so tasty and fresh at a reasonable price… freshest, tender, flavorful oysters, fish, and scallops. Our waiter was very attentive, on top of refilling our tea, food, and cleaning up the dishes. She was very friendly. We liked everything about this restaurant except the busy and overcrowded parking. A must try and come back for more yummy food. We enjoyed their in-house dessert banana pudding which can be shared."

"We like to try new things when travelling but we really wanted to come back here because we really enjoyed it before and especially wanted to have their key lime pie and try the Bushwhacker for the first time; both of those were great, and the Key Lime Pie is huge! We also had Baked Oysters Pensacola Beach Style (our server improvised an order of a half-dozen and they were good), a poke bowl with salmon, and Firecracker Shrimp Tacos. All the food was delicious. Portions were generous. Our server was helpful and attentive. Choose indoor seating this time for a cooler temperature (they have nice views outdoors). Great experience."

"Wow what a great place to enjoy some fresh seafood. The service from Ky was excellent - knowledgeable, courteous & prompt. Servings were huge. The togo key lime pie was half of an 8” pie as 1 serving. Everything were delicious, including the butter rolls. The gift shop next door was a bonus. We ate outdoor with a serene view of the bay. Afterward we walked the boat dock then visit all the nearby shops. It’s very popular so parking can be a challenge, but they have additional parking across the street. 2 thumbs up for Flounder’s. BTW get there early. The seafood chowder was very unique but huge. The bowl was like an 8” platter."

One of the first things you’ll notice when you first see Flounders is a large 55′ shrimp boat they call “M/V Flounder”. Legend has it that Captain Frank Flounder and his sons, Fred, Floyd and Felix, used this vessel for shrimping in the Gulf waters (sounds a little fishy, but we’ll go with it). There’s plenty of seating inside, but if you want to enjoy a true Pensacola Beach experience, definitely request a table outside and enjoy scenic views along the Sound.
