Reviews Summary

Yang's Kitchen is celebrated for its creative Chinese-fusion menu and commitment to high-quality, local ingredients, particularly its unique cornmeal mochi pancake. While many praise the flavorful dishes, friendly service, and pleasant atmosphere, some diners find the prices to be on the higher side for the portion sizes or note concerns about the dining space being drafty.

"Yang’s Kitchen – A Hidden Gem in Alhambra

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Yang’s Kitchen for both brunch and dinner, and each visit has been exceptional. While it’s on the pricier side, the quality of ingredients and thoughtful preparation make it well worth it.

The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, making the experience feel warm and inviting rather than overly formal.

Some standout dishes include the pork with spicy mustard, the crisp sugar snap peas, and the incredibly flavorful duck leg. The flan we had was exceptional too. Can’t wait to go back for their soft serve.

If you’re looking for a spot that delivers elevated, unique dishes without the stiffness of a fine-dining restaurant, Yang’s Kitchen is the place to go. Highly recommend for both brunch and dinner!

"Overall, Yang’s Kitchen delivered. I now understand the hype. The food was delicious and flavorful, the staff were attentive and provided great service and the atmosphere was superb with the music they were playing in the background.

The dish I recommend is the lamb curry. Never had anything like it and its 3 lamb shanks.

Will be back and try their brunch and their burger night."

"Tried their brunch for the first time, and it will certainly not be the last time. We ordered a cornmeal mochi pancake, David's arroz caldo, and the breakfast plate. I was worried the pancake would be grainy, and while you can taste the cornmeal, it was good. My friend aptly pointed out the texture was similar to Ethiopian injera so it was light. The highlight though was the persimmon jam on top. The arroz caldo is (Filipino) congee, and it hit the spot, warm and soothing. For the breakfast plate, we went with (hangar) steak and eggs. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The scrambled eggs were soft and fluffy. That brick of hashed browns was crispy and light, which made us wonder if it was perhaps potatoes and jicama. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, but there was a wait when we were almost done. The service was overall good. They definitely rushed us at the end to free up the table but not to the point of being rude, so I still give them 5 stars on service. The seating isn't the most comfortable, and the tables felt a bit too close to other diners, but this isn't enough to keep me away from the amazing food."

21 Best Breakfast Spots in Los Angeles

A new-school San Gabriel Valley dining destination serving the farm-to-table Chinese-inspired dinner of our dreams (plus an excellent brunch). Why we love it: Highly inventive yet tinged with nostalgia, Yang’s Kitchen is the new-school Chinese restaurant we’ve been searching high and low for.The more recently added dinner service is what won me over, but Yang’s deceptively simple brunch offerings are also available starting at 9am—which makes for a delightful Asian American spin on breakfast. Thoughtfully sourced ingredients, living wages and an ethos of sustainability thread themselves into every delicious dish, including their must-order sesame noodles made with Persian cucumbers and house chili crisp.

Where To Have A Fun & Affordable Dinner In LA - Los Angeles

At first glance, Yang’s Kitchen looks like a trendy coffee shop where you’d take your friends for matcha and chit-chat. That’s why the contrast between the casual, blonde wood space and superb Taiwanese-ish dinner menu is so exciting—even more so when you notice the small plates are all under $20, and most of the big dishes are under $40. Prioritize the flaky hainan fish over chicken fat rice, the braised duck with a French twist, and dan dan noodles made with al dente campanelle that clings to the sauce.

Best L.A. restaurants for brunch from the 101 Best Restaurants guide

Though Christian Yang and Maggie Ho’s Alhambra restaurant has been directing creatively charged ideas toward its dinner service, the place is arguably most cherished for its universalist daytime menu, when breakfast platters of soft-scrambled eggs, hash browns and bacon criss-cross with Japanese-inspired set morning meals and lunchier plates like lemony fried chicken wings and pickled cucumber salad laced with gochugaru. Bringing all the different directions together is an irresistible hubcap-size pancake textured with cornmeal and mochi; it’s thin and lacy around the edges, with a center like an unusually plush crepe. I want it no matter what else I’ve ordered.

20 Best Restaurants In Los Angeles, Ranked

Alhambra is rife with amazing and authentic restaurants serving food you simply can't get elsewhere in this gigantic city. While there are easily a dozen restaurants in that neighborhood alone that could merit a spot on this list, Yang's Kitchen stands out to us for its unique and varied menu that spans all three meals of the day (the restaurant is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. five days a week). Main courses let you choose your own adventure by selecting from a list of mains such as dry-aged steelhead trout with yuzu miso, or braised Meiji tofu.

The 7 Best Wings In Los Angeles ~ L.A. TACO

A Taiwanese fusion restaurant with an emphasis on freshly sourced ingredients, Yang’s Kitchen in Alhambra offers a plate of chicken wings that stand out for their simplicity and excellence. The chicken wings at Yang’s don’t have any special sauce or glaze smothered over them; they are fried to a nice bronze color and served with a small dish of salt-and-pepper and lemon. And yet, despite not having any of the “fancier” flavor profiles some of the other wings mentioned above have, they are still delicious and memorable.
