Reviews Summary
Yoshitomo is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh and creative sushi, often described as world-class and unlike anything found elsewhere. The innovative flavor combinations and high-quality ingredients are consistently praised, alongside attentive and knowledgeable service that enhances the dining experience. While some find the price point high, most agree the quality justifies the cost.
"Surprisingly amazing sushi/Japanese restaurant. Incredibly unique offerings you'll not find anywhere else, fish all tasted fresh and our server was truly amazing, maybe the best service I've ever had.
We tried a number of items on the menu and every one was a treat. Cozy and friendly atmosphere and while prices were high they were not out of line with the quality of the food.
I know it sounds ridiculous to say some of the best sushi I've had was in Omaha, Nebraska but it's true. I eat a lot of sushi all over the country and I would put Yoshitomo on par with any place I've been.
If you enjoy Japanese food at all, you owe it to yourself to give this place a try."

"We spent $150 total including a 20% tip. Everything was delicious and this is what we got:
Appetizers:
* Oni Egg x 2: bright and savory, the egg itself sat on top of a bed of what would be similar to potato salad, perfect app.
Bites:
* Aburi Wagyu: pretty straight forward in concept, flavor however has so much more depth and layers, close second favorite, must try.
* Hama Toast: believe it or not, this was our favorite out of everything, it had all the right textures and flavors, very comforting, must try of must tries.
* Truffle Scallop: these were my least favorite out of everything, I got more of a lemon taste than truffle, still good however.
Plates:
* Kani Miso (fried rice with fish roe): decadent, again, another must try.
Makimono:
* Osaka: this one was so fun, the bonito flakes on top were very flavorful and unique.
* Khaleesi: this one packed a citrus-y punch, nothing like I’ve ever had before.
Notes: The entrance is completely blacked out and hard to find, gives speakeasy vibes. We made a reservation for the sushi bar so we could watch them prepare, otherwise it was a normal service."

"Dining at Yoshitomo in Omaha, Nebraska, is nothing short of a revelation. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between intimate and lively, making it ideal for both quiet conversations and celebratory meals. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive without being intrusive, and clearly proud of the artistry they were serving.
I ordered the variety sushi and several other dishes, and every bite reaffirmed why Yoshitomo has earned such a stellar reputation. The fish was impeccably fresh — delicate, vibrant, and expertly sliced — while the rice had the perfect balance of seasoning and texture. Each piece of sushi felt thoughtfully composed, highlighting the natural flavors without overwhelming them. The attention to detail extended beyond the food, too, from the beautiful plating to the timing of each course arriving at the table.
Simply put, Yoshitomo is a standout not just in Omaha, but anywhere. It’s clear that chef David Utterback and his team are on a mission to deliver world-class sushi in the Midwest, and they succeed in spectacular fashion. Whether you’re a seasoned sushi aficionado or someone just beginning to explore it, Yoshitomo is a must-visit — a place where every bite feels special and memorable."
