Along Thames Street in Newport we ate twice at the bar at The Red Parrot Restaurant. The first time we ordered Mucho Nachos which was a portion so massive we ate it for dinner and again for lunch the next day!. We also went back and I marveled at the generous portion of lobster on the Lobster Rock N’ Roll.

More expensively- never too thrilled about the Red Parrot, Mooring, or even Scales, but the locations are good in terms of people watching. Chowder at the Clarke Cook House/Black Pearl is well known. Many restaurants in the tourist area have always been expensive and just not that good.

For dinner, head to the Red Parrot Restaurant for fresh seafood, burgers, or salads. Kids will enjoy the Siamese Sticky Wings and Thai Spring Rolls, the smaller bites on the menu. Afterwards, grab an ice-cream cone or homemade fudge at Kilwin’s on Thames Street.

348 Thames St, Newport – I don’t remember eating here in 2016, but Tyler said we did. Carter wanted to go, so we did. It’s a three story restaurant, that was built in 1898, and used to be a meat packing house.

Located at the heart of Newport, the Red Parrot has been a favorite lunch spot for many years. It's huge menu offers everything from tasty salads to sandwiches and main dishes. Great drink menu and bar too!

Red Parrot: The menu here is huge and definitely family-friendly. When we were hankering for a big salad, we headed here. The service was fast and friendly.

Also check out the Red Parrot for a huge menu, but mostly just the calamari pizza!. Fried squid...ON A PIZZA!!!. It's very very very good.

In the center of it all, the three-story Red Parrot is a great place for families or anyone with some picky eaters in their group.
