I'm stuck between the beautiful Castle Hill Inn and the Legendary Inns which include Cliffside, Adele Turner, and Abigail Stoneman Inns. Does anyone have trip reports, suggestions, opinions?. I want to pick a place where the service is unbelievable.

The Newport Restoration Foundation (NRF) owns 73 restored 18th-century houses in the historic waterfront neighborhoods of The Point and The Hill. The foundation’s unusual tenant-steward program allows people to live in these residences, in exchange for market-rate rent and a measure of responsibility to the houses. “If you make this commitment by signing a lease … it means that you are responsible for being both a watchdog and a caring sponsor for the house,” says the official statement that residents are required to sign before moving in.

WHAT TO EXPECT: This waterfront lawn spotted with a large Terrace patio and Adirondack chairs overlooking the bay at Castle Hill Inn is another Newport icon and summer staple. Offering panoramic views, classic New England fare and warm-weather cocktails, you might find it hard to leave. MENU FAVORITES: You'll want to try the "Cornbread's" Clam Chowder and the Lobster Roll, and finish with a dessert cocktail to complete the experience.

Lunch with a side of ocean breeze: A morning spent mansion-hopping is sure to work up any couple’s appetite, so make your way to the very end of Ocean Avenue for an al fresco lunch at the Castle Hill Inn. Lunch on The Lawn is served with a clear ocean view, from a menu inspired by fresh, local ingredients. Afterwards, pass the afternoon searching for Newport-made goodies to take home, from world-class cheeses, desserts, and wines.

Our favorite place to sit and eat was at The Terrace Bar inside the Castle Hill Inn, a little excursion from the downtown on the scenic 10-mile drive. The outside tables were booked, but we snagged a couple of corner seats at the bar, which was open on all sides, and an inviting breeze had us sighing with joy. This place offered the style of food I admire, with fresh unusual ingredients, and attention to presentation.

Castle Hill Lawn - this is one of the most picturesque places to sit and enjoy an afternoon cocktail in Newport. White Adirondack chairs pepper the green lawn of the Castle Hill Inn, facing out over the water. You can also dine outside on the patio (or inside, too), but I don't know if anything beats sipping champagne and watching sailboats cruise by while sitting in Adirondacks on a big green lawn.

If you don’t want to take the short walk to the Castle Hill Lighthouse, consider proposing on the Lawn. This option has a stunning view of the Newport Bridge and Adirondack chairs for watching the boats go by. In the summer, it is busy, but in the off season months you will find it quite private.2025 Update: Castle Hill now charges a fee to reserve the Lawn for outdoor proposals.

Sit and linger at The Terrace Bar, where the view is spectacular and the food and drinks always flowing. Order from The Lawn Terrace menu, with all the sips and bites you might be craving from a Rose Watermelon Regatta cocktail, to Littleneck Clam Stuffies or a New England Lobster Roll. During the cooler months, our Terrace Bar is heated for your comfort.

The Lawn: This outdoor restaurant, ideal for lunch or dinner, is located at The Castle Hill Inn. Order a dark and stormy and sit back on the adirondack chairs while you take in the views of the East Bay. The delicious spinach orzo salad is a perfect complement to their famous surf and turf burger and lobster roll with onion string toppings.

Watching the sunset over Narragansett Bay with views of the Pell Bridge is pretty spectacular, especially from the Lawn at Castle Hill. Sit in one of their adirondack chairs and sip on a cocktail while you watch sailboats go by as the sun goes down. Castle Hill has great food too and also a lovely patio for outdoor dining.

The absolute best hotel in Newport in the Castle Hill Inn, which sits right on the water and has amazing views from all over the property. But for a day trip to Newport, you can visit one of their two restaurants for lunch or dinner to enjoy the grounds.

The Clarke Cooke House is the setting for a Mediterranean-influenced American Cuisine meal. The hidden SkyBar upstairs and romantic candlelit summer porch are perfect for a date night. But the Bistro Room dining area and bar are just as cozy.

Must try: Blueberry Lemonade || Local’s Note: Open in the summer. Can get SUPER packed on those prime summer nights, but if you get here early enough you can definitely snag a couple of Adirondack chairs on the lawn to order some drinks.

If you’re going for classy, head straight to The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn. This luxury hotel and estate is right on Newport’s famous Ocean Drive. When the weather is cooperating, drinks are served on the iconic lawn.

A MUST. Be sure to make reservations as spots in the summer are hard to come by. The Lawn at Castle Hill is the perfect spot for an afternoon cocktail. The white Adirondack chairs are as iconic as the view.
