The sister restaurant to the decidedly more playful Stoneacre Garden on our Neighborhoods of Newport Tour, the Brasserie sits on historic Washington Square and is known for its curated and always-evolving seasonal menu. Fan favorite starters include the smoked trout deviled eggs, the escargot and of course the ultimate aphrodisiac, a dozen local oysters!

Stoneacre’s two separate dining options offer different vibes: rustic-chic French brasserie or family-friendly, outdoors-inside atmosphere inspired by the gardens of the Stoneacre Estate, designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. The brasserie boasts black-and-white beach pinup photographs from the ’50s, burgundy leather banquette seating, and mosaic tile, while the garden dining room is filled with live plants and opens up to a large outdoor patio with distant harbor views.

At Stoneacre Brasserie, they are featuring a special Valentine’s menu with unique offerings like Lobster Risotto with Peas and Black Truffles and Chateaubriand for two with Cauliflower Gratin & Swiss Chard. Chateaubriand for two is one of those meals that fall in the unforgettable category. French influence meets American industrialism at Stoneacre Brasserie in Washington Square where a small, ever-changing menu boasts intense flavor and centers around local farmers, butchers and fishermen. Stoneacre is relatively new to the Newport restaurant scene having opened just 6 months ago. Its a visually beautiful modern neighborhood restaurant where they source all of their meats from local farmers. We enjoyed a couple well crafted cocktails and ordered basically every appetizer they had while enjoying good conversation with the bartender.

Stoneacre Brasserie is the perfect combination of neighborhood restaurant and French bistro. Gluten-free breakfast options include corned beef hash, vegetable hash, eggs, oatmeal and more. Lunch and dinner includes sandwiches like burgers, coconut curried chicken and BLT’s, as well as tuna nicoise salad and more.

Originally inspired by French wines and the foods that were paired with them, Stoneacre Brasserie offers casual cafe vibes by day and elevated dining by night. From the patterned floor tiling to the flying buttresses, the French-inspired architecture will make you feel as though you’ve just left the Eiffel Tower.

Stoneacre Brasserie: At 28 Washington Square, this is a contemporary restaurant with an emphasis on French cuisine and locally sourced ingredients. I went for dinner on my first night in town and had great mussels along with frites (fries) and grilled asparagus. It is a neighborhood spot away from the harbor.
