The Nitro Bar is the coffee shop you'll dream of for days to come whenever the morning arrives a little too soon and the only thing that will do is a really good cup of coffee. Now with two Newport locations, and 1 seasonal cafe in Little Compton, they originated as a coffee cart hand-made from scrap wood, and eventually evolved from high-demand into 3 carts, 50 Nitro taps and 4 shops throughout the state. Their nitro cold brew is pretty much as smooth as your excuse for being late to work— roasted, brewed, and pressurized in a keg, the result is a creamy pour from the tap that some might compare to a Guinness.

One of the most unique coffee shops on the isl and is the quaint and cozy Coffee Grinder on Bannister’s Wharf. Situated at the very end of the wharf, enjoy your frozen coffee (another personal favorite and if you’re more mocha & ice-cream swing by Sprinkles!) at the tables and adirondack chairs located directly on the dock and watch the sun go down on the harbor horizon. Some of the best sunset photos are snapped here and the 140 foot yachts docked alongside the coffee shop make it an even more envy-worthy photo!

I have to say, it was hard to choose between Cool Beans and The Coffee Grinder after experiencing them both. Don't get me wrong, The Coffee Grinder serves a great cup of coffee, and I will certainly get coffee there again. Especially if you find yourself in Newport, The Coffee Grinder is a convenient place to get a good cup of coffee or an espresso.

Stop for a coffee, tea and light snack at Empire Coffee House. There are dozens of loose leaf tea varieties available, in addition to coffee and hot espresso drinks. Light snacks, such as scones and muffins are available to compliment your drink. If you are looking for a more filling lunch, check out Brick Alley Pub located just a short walk away.

This small coffee shop inside Perry Mill, former on Bannister's Wharf, has been an iconic feature of Newport’s downtown since it opened in 1997. Owner Alyssa Galdchun has been serving Italian espresso drinks and baked goods by herself and she sources her house blend roast coffee beans from a small-batch roaster in Central Massachusetts.

I wanted to include the Coffee Grinder so that anyone looking for cute cafes will know that this gem is now closed. If location is everything then Coffee Grinder had won the jackpot. Located on the very end of Bannister’s Wharf, overlooking historic Newport harbor, this charming espresso bar served coffee and pastries for 25 years.

In Newport, we did a quick Google search for “best Newport coffee shop” and the unanimous result was The Coffee Grinder. Located at the end of Bannister’s Wharf, this coffee shop is oh-so-tiny and oh-so-cute. It is right on the waterfront so you can enjoy your delicious coffee while taking in the serene atmosphere of the docks.

Then again, if you prefer to skip breakfast other than your morning caffeine, you must visit Coffee Grinder. The harbor views can’t be beat, the owner is a spit fire (if you go, you’ll definitely meet her because she works every single day) and her coffee is my favorite. If you like espresso, try an iced cortado – so good!.

Located at 33 Bannister's Wharf, overlooking historic Newport Harbor, this is my favorite of all Newport coffee shops. Just go all the way down to the end of the wharf, and the Coffee Grinder will be on your right. I love to come down here and relax on the Adirondack chairs next to some of the world's finest yachts.
