What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Reviews for Coffee Grinder are highly polarized, with many praising the quality of the espresso drinks and the cozy atmosphere with harbor views. However, a significant number of customers express frustration over what they perceive as extremely high prices and a lack of transparency in add-on charges for things like milk and ice. While some find the owner friendly and the pastries delicious, others warn of 'predatory pricing' and suggest avoiding the establishment.
"Popped in a couple of times during a weekend getaway. Had a double espresso and a Cortado. Shots were perfectly pulled. Espresso is smooth, not burnt (like most of the corporate chain coffee shops). Prices are what you’d expect from any high end coffee place.
Owner/barista is outgoing and chatty, both passionate & knowledgeable of all things coffee.
Reviews here seem mixed. If the quality of your coffee drink is unimportant, there’s Dunks and Starbucks nearby, where they will be more than happy to add 3 pumps of this or six pumps of that to drown out their god-awful tasting coffee."

"This woman closed her other location, but surprise! She's back! Same scam, different place! $5.95 for a small cold brew... plus $1 for ice, $1 for milk, and $1 for flavor. I didn’t realize coffee shops were going à la carte now.
The pastries are straight from a wholesale box, but sure—charge bakery prices. If you enjoy paying premium prices for Costco vibes, this is your spot. AVOID."
Lisa
"I wish I had read the reviews before spending my money here. Two bagels toasted with cream cheese almost $18! The bagels themselves were over $6 each, plus $1 each for cream cheese and $1 each for getting them toasted. The bagels were disappointing, seemed more like they were microwaved rather than toasted. The amount of cream cheese was embarrassing. The other coffee shops in the area had lines out the door- this place was nearly empty. Should’ve known. Would not recommend."

The Nitro Bar is the coffee shop you'll dream of for days to come whenever the morning arrives a little too soon and the only thing that will do is a really good cup of coffee. Now with two Newport locations, and 1 seasonal cafe in Little Compton, they originated as a coffee cart hand-made from scrap wood, and eventually evolved from high-demand into 3 carts, 50 Nitro taps and 4 shops throughout the state. Their nitro cold brew is pretty much as smooth as your excuse for being late to work— roasted, brewed, and pressurized in a keg, the result is a creamy pour from the tap that some might compare to a Guinness.
