Reviews Summary

Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant is a long-standing Newport favorite praised for its eclectic, fun atmosphere and generous portions. Diners rave about signature dishes like the Lobster Mac & Cheese and Lobster Roll, as well as the rich bisques and chowders. While the ambiance is a major draw, some find the menu slightly limited and the dining space can get noisy and crowded, especially on weekends, with occasional remarks about the price point not always aligning with the perceived quality for dinner.

"VERY good food. We walked in on a Saturday around 6pm and had a 35 min wait for a party of 3. There are plenty of stores to walk around nearby while you wait for the text that your table is ready,
The Golden BBQ Burger was amazing. We also got machacha nachos and short rib sandwich and they were good too.
The service was good, the atmosphere was nice because it was a bit more low key but still great food and lots of decorations."

Nicole M

"Newport is a happy place for my wife and I. Brick Alley is a must-visit restaurant when in town. This trip we were a party of four. Absolutely enthralling decor and always excellent service. I put a picture of all that was ordered although I can not name them all. I had the salmon which was delicious but looked a little lonely as served. If there was any shortcoming at all I would say that the menu is a bit limited. Take a look 👀 online and make sure that they have what you like. If you do visit I am sure that you will enjoy the experience. Your mileage may vary."

First World Properties

"Brick Alley Pub & Restaurant is such a great spot! The atmosphere is warm, lively, and welcoming, making it perfect for a casual meal or gathering with friends. The highlight for me was definitely the clam chowder—so rich, creamy, and packed with flavor. It’s an absolute must-try! 👍

The menu has a wide variety of options, and everything we ordered was fresh and tasty. Service was friendly and efficient, which made the experience even better.

If you’re in Newport, this place is a must-visit. Highly recommend!"

The 16 Best Restaurants In Newport, Rhode Island - Newport

This spot is named after the centrally-located Brick Alley area, where sailors once spent afternoons at port, and grandparents share memories of rowdy nights from their youth. They have both a pub and a dining room, the latter of which is a nostalgic trip—there’s sports memorabilia, antiques, an old Chevy truck, and a menu filled with burgers, pizzas, and beef short ribs. The dining room is a good move for a family of five, while the pub is more casual and a great place to stop for an on-tap beer and plate of nachos—especially if you’re a little hangry from bobbing and weaving through pedestrians on Thames Street.

If you think about Brick Alley Pub and don’t think about their great craft beer selection, you’re drinking your way through this town wrong. Brick Alley throughout 2014 and 2015 brought in very limited release beers, like Goose Island’s Black Friday Release, where they were the only place in the state you could find the brew. They’ve done a great job of supporting the RI local craft beer scene and it shows with their relationship with Grey Sail (one of few places you can find Captain’s Daughter throughout the most popular time for the brew) and other local breweries.
