This spot is named after the centrally-located Brick Alley area, where sailors once spent afternoons at port, and grandparents share memories of rowdy nights from their youth. They have both a pub and a dining room, the latter of which is a nostalgic trip—there’s sports memorabilia, antiques, an old Chevy truck, and a menu filled with burgers, pizzas, and beef short ribs. The dining room is a good move for a family of five, while the pub is more casual and a great place to stop for an on-tap beer and plate of nachos—especially if you’re a little hangry from bobbing and weaving through pedestrians on Thames Street.

If you’re looking for more low-key and kitschy, go to Brick Alley Pub, where you can have clam chowdah and a beer under a slew of vintage Coca-Cola signs, license plates, a wooden derby car hanging from the ceiling, and even a full-on fire truck that used to be perched on top of the building. It’ll be like playing Where’s Waldo, with extra points for finding the lifesize tiger head.

Food: Castle Hill Inn is one of the best in town for a special ebening meal, Asterisk/Obelisk is a favorite for nicer dining, Brick Alley Pub is a favorite for casual lunch, Cheeky Monkey is for eclectic atmosphere, Sardella's for Italian but check the menus (most are online at gonewport.com) to match your palate.

One of my favorite casual spots is Brick Alley Pub, food is excellent and they have great frozen drinks. There is usually a wait though. As for bars, Christie's on Thames is a fun place for drinks and they usually have good bands on weekends.

If you think about Brick Alley Pub and don’t think about their great craft beer selection, you’re drinking your way through this town wrong. Brick Alley throughout 2014 and 2015 brought in very limited release beers, like Goose Island’s Black Friday Release, where they were the only place in the state you could find the brew. They’ve done a great job of supporting the RI local craft beer scene and it shows with their relationship with Grey Sail (one of few places you can find Captain’s Daughter throughout the most popular time for the brew) and other local breweries.

The first day, we had lunch at the Brick Alley Pub on Thames Street, across from the waterfront. Even at 2pm on a frigid day, the wait was 1 hour and the large restaurant and bar were packed. The service was very nice, and the food fairly good--we had fish tacos and a lobster roll respectively.

140 Thames St, Newport – Definitely a top priority on our list!. Tyler and I ate here in 2016, and couldn’t stop talking about the stuffies aka baked Stuffed Clams a la Portuguese. They were just as good as we remembered, and so was everything else.

(seriously I was so bummed!) this pub is award winning and voted ‘best restaurant’ in newport. The menu looks insane, (that newport style calamari! spicy margaritas!) But it is kid friendly. There can be a wait sometimes, so its worth calling ahead.

I think the reason people like yesterday's is because it is a consistantly decent meal at a decent price with decent service. Which is just generally not the case in Newport. We went yo spark recently with a group And had a great time.

The highlight was their amazing salad bar – it’s full of lettuce, add-ons, side salads, soup, and breads. I could have easily had just that for my meal. And their menu is huge – there’s something for everyone from salads to seafood.

Located in the heart of downtown, this restaurant specializes in steaks, seafood and pasta. The nachos, clam chowder and burgers ain't too bad either. The bar is a great spot to catch a game or make some new friends.

Brick Alley, Belles (if it’s summer), Pasta Beach, Guisto, Diegos. Really depends on what cuisine you’re going for. Skip the big spots like The Black Pearl, Red Parrot, Midtown - they’re really not worth it.

With 40 years of tradition, we highly recommend lunch at this lively Newport landmark. Renowned for its delicious lobster roll, fish sandwich, and vibrant bar, it’s a local favorite you won’t want to miss!

One of my all-time favorites is the Brick Alley Pub in Brick Market Place. They offer a huge menu with lots of options. Another great pick is Pasta Beach, located on Memorial Drive in Newport.
