Reviews Summary

Llama Inn is praised for its innovative Peruvian-American cuisine and vibrant atmosphere, with many highlighting the creative dishes and cocktails. However, some diners have found the value for money questionable and noted inconsistencies in seasoning and dish proportions, particularly with the Lomo Saltado.

"Restive Peruvian cuisine served up in an airy and modern atmosphere within Williamsburg. The service is just as good as everyone says!
We came in around 5:45 on a Friday night and were able to snag seats at the bar. The lead bartender was incredibly friendly and helpful giving us his thoughts on our order and suggestions. We were super pleased with our order and ended up adding dessert even though we were full! Highly recommend!"

Maria

"The Lomo Saltado came absolutely smothered in fries. It felt like I was digging for treasure to find the meat. There were only a few chunks, although they were quite tender and flavorful. The dish tasted great overall but it was not worth the $100 price tag. Atmosphere was lively, and the other dishes were solid, but next time I’ll try something different."

Clayton Meyer

"Another jewels of the “in” scene of Brooklyn: Llama Inn, a Peruvian restaurant with cool ambiente, friendly and knowledgeable staff and spectacular dishes. Chicken Anticucho, Trout tartage, Ceviche caretillero, tuna ceviche, ½ chicken, and Lomo saltado all were outstanding with beautiful presentation, super tenderness, and colorful flavors.

50 Best Restaurants in Brooklyn: All the Classics to New Favorites

This highly-acclaimed restaurant has been a top destination for Peruvian cuisine in NYC since opening in 2015. At Llama Inn, Peruvian-American chef Erik Ramirez (Eleven Madison Park, Nuela) offers a menu known for its creativity and impressive presentations with items like the Fluke Tiradito, a ceviche with chirimoya, tapioca, winter citrus, huacatay; Quinoa with bacon, cashew, avocado, and banana; Meat Skewers; larger shareable dishes like Whole Bronzino Patarashca and Beef Tenderloin Stir Fry; and more. If you find yourself borough hopping and in Greenwich Village, be sure to check out their sister spot, Llama San.

Best Restaurants in NYC

It may be easier to see Erik Ramirez’s creative streak at his other restaurant, Llama San in Greenwich Village, where he free-associates on the ways Japanese and Peruvian food do, or potentially might, intersect. At Llama Inn he mostly sticks with translating traditional dishes — beef-heart anticuchos, scallop ceviche — into modern restaurant terms. But he works well when he’s staying within the lines, and there’s no question that the space in Brooklyn is roomier and more comfortable, despite being a truncated triangle under the B.Q.E.

Brooklyn's Best New Restaurants

Right down the road from Lilia is chef Erik Ramirez’s Peruvian-fusion Llama Inn (also a NYT Critics’ Pick), which features an industrial-style wood-and-metal front door that was salvaged from Peru. Just on the other side of the Brooklyn Queens Expressway is Kings County Imperial, a dreamy throwback hideaway that serves both classic mai tais and homemade soy sauce on tap. The menu includes Chinese classics aplenty, while the space is dimly lit with Edison bulbs and furnished with simple steel dining chairs and handmade-in-Brooklyn barstools.

You might even want to order some oysters — or save your appetite for the unforgettable Peruvian menu at Llama Inn, tucked nearby under the BQE (Brooklyn-Queens Expressway). The restaurant is right on trend with bleached woods, plenty of succulents, and a shared plate mentality but the food is its own universe. Sure, there’s quinoa and sweetbread, but the former is tossed with banana, avocado, bacon, and cashews and the latter is paired with raisin chimichurri. If you’re with a crowd, don’t miss the signature beef tenderloin stir fry.

Best Restaurants in Brooklyn | New York

There’s no indication that this bright, airy spot located on a pretty dodgy looking road serves up Peruvian food but that’s exactly what it does. It’s not authentic Peruvian food, nor does it pretend to be but with a chef whose CV includes Eleven Madison Park and Nuela it’s safe to say even the more unusual combos taste delicious. There’s a killer cocktail list to boot and having opened in November 2015 and become a staple on the local dining scene it’s busy even on a Monday night.

If you’re looking to start your day with a bang (or an El Chapo cocktail with tequila, pisco, and Cocchi), you’ll want to visit Peruvian hotspot Llama Inn. Aim for a breezy, sun-drenched rooftop table, but know that the ceviche alone is good enough to make a seat at the bar worth your while, too. For incredibly Peruvian food, head to the Llama Inn in Williamsburg, definitely one of the best Brooklyn restaurants. I love their creative and unique dishes, not to mention some of the best cocktails. This Williamsburg Peruvian eatery offers a stunning atmosphere, but more importantly, delicious pisco sours (a traditional cocktail of Peruvian origin).
