With more than 25 years of experience in the NYC hospitality world, Leland Eating & Drinking House is industry veteran Randi Lee’s (Del Posto, Ruschmeyer’s in Montauk) first independent project. Located in Prospect Heights, the menu’s Mediterranean-inspired cuisine by chef Delfin Jaranilla (Fedora, Quality Eats) features nose-to-tail butchery and seasonal ingredients from local farms. In addition to their newly launched basement bakery with goods from head baker Angela Reid, go for signature dishes like the Chicken Jook Porridge, Charred Lemon-Skillet Mussels, and a rendition of Pork & Beans comprised of a grilled pork chop and gigante beans.

Some of the dinner items that keep us coming back (trout rillette, charred lemon skillet mussels) are also available on Leland’s brunch menu, plus a few you can only get during the weekend’s primest time to dine. Brunch-only bites include SECs on Hawaiian rolls and poached eggs on jalapeños labne. It’s also the best time to grab excellent baked goods like Leland’s own sourdough cinnamon buns.

Leland Eating & Drinking House in Prospect Heights is a pretty low-key spot on a pretty quiet corner, so it’s great for a last-minute brunch when you wake up on a Sunday and realize you absolutely need some pork shank hash. The only non-negotiable order is the sourdough cinnamon bun, but other worthy offerings include a porchetta sandwich and honey toast brulee.

Of course, it's a must for everyone to get a slice at Juliana's or Grimaldi's, where the pizza is so good that patrons line up around the block (go at 3–4pm for a shorter wait). Cecconi's is an excellent Italian bistro on the waterfront with a view of the carousel with Manhattan behind. If you have little kids, this may be a bit fancy for them.

Leland Eating and Drinking House is all about local food, natural wines, and good times with your favorite people. The proprietor, Randi Lee, named his first restaurant in honor of his great-uncle Leland Chin who settled in Oregon during the 1930s. Chin’s restaurant, aptly named Chin’s Kitchen, aimed to connect the community through cooking, culture, and story swapping.

Leland Eating and Drinking House is one of your best go-to spots for neighborhood brunch in Brooklyn. Situated on a corner in between apartments in the beautiful neighborhood of Prospect Heights with a colorful mural you can’t miss out front. It’s homey, aesthetically pleasing, and one of my favorite places to eat and spots for brunch in Prospect Heights.

Rooted in 1930s Oregon, Leland Eating and Drinking House continues generations of tradition as a family-owned establishment. Their fusion cuisine emphasizes fresh, locally sourced ingredients, prepared with care. While the brunch menu is limited to weekends, each dish shines, particularly the Smoked Pollock Fritters and Skillet Mussels.

If you plan to be near Prospect Heights, don’t skip Leland Eating and Drinking House. This small-scale restaurant has a homey atmosphere and serves one of the best brunches in Brooklyn. Their brunch menu is available on weekends from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm and consists of dishes that are carefully prepared with attention to detail.

Relatively new to Prospect Heights, Leland Eating and Drinking House is already a popular destination for brunch and dinner, inside and out. Though it isn’t exclusively a seafood restaurant, some of our recent favorites include the smoked steelhead trout roulette, charred lemon skillet mussels and whole fried scup.

The thing about brunch in NYC is that you are spoilt for options. You can literally choose a cuisine and have at least 10 great restaurants that serve you that. Picking out the best of the best is hard sometimes but when it comes to the Leland Eating and drinking house, there can be no doubts!
