This couple-owned Clinton Hill pizzeria was destination-worthy for its pies alone, which are available with red sauce — try Colony, topped with sauce, mozz, pepperoni, honey and pickled jalapeno — vodka-sauced pink pies, tomatillo-topped green pies and classic white pies. But the restaurant upped its own ante unleashing the Emmy Burger, a towering combo of dry-aged beef, house sauce, caramelized onions, cheddar and cornichons on a pretzel bun. Go early and with a friend to enjoy both.

The original Emily in Clinton Hill opened to quick accolades for its wood-fired pies and New Haven styles in 2014. Meanwhile, the second outpost in the West Village is all about Detroit-style pizzas, topping pies with ricotta, pepperonis and vegan spicy kimchi. Been there, done that?

The pizzas themselves are divided into four categories: the reds, the pinks (vodka sauce), the greens (tomatillo sauce), and the whites. Additionally, options like house-made ricotta with sourdough rye batard and a pretty famous burger that includes Pat LaFrieda dry-aged beef, a pretzel bun, and caramelized onion with Grafton Village cheddar make Emily a must-visit for even those who aren’t pizza-obsessed.

Opened in 2014 in Clinton Hill, Emily’s uber-thin-crust, wood-fired pizzas quickly became an NYC staple. The team has since expanded to excellent Detroit-style pizzas at Emmy Squared, but we keep coming back for the original pies, in combos like the Emily (mozzarella, pistachio, Sottocenere cheese and honey) and the Big Ang (vodka sauce, ricotta, double pecorino, meatball and Peppadew pepper). There’s also an insane burger, if you can spare the stomach space.

One of our favorite burgers in the world is found at a pizza restaurant in Brooklyn. What makes it so perfect?. The Emmy Burger is made with extremely high quality meat (dry-aged and perfectly cooked medium rare) in one big, juicy patty; a healthy amount of melted cheddar cheese; sweet, caramelized onions; a fluffy yet sturdy bun that tastes like a brioche and pretzel bun hybrid; and a slightly spicy sauce that brings all the flavors together.

What began as two young people in love with a passion for eating delicious pies together is now one of the famous Brooklyn pizza restaurants. Matt and Emily (the restaurant namesake) finally opened their own pizza joint in Clinton Hill, Brooklyn after Matt spent some time learning the craft at Sottocasa, their neighborhood pizzeria. Their menu changes with the seasons and whenever they can, they use locally sourced ingredients.

Of course they did, because it's one of the best and most highly debated things about Brooklyn. While Manhattan classics such as Rubirosa and Prince Street Pizza may attempt to steal all the glory, their sister borough has them beat by miles – and the winner just might be Emily. It’s a small space with a big personality, and the team at this Clinton Hill favourite is good at everything.

Ordered delivery from Nargis Cafe last night for the first time, and am very glad we did!. The delivery was on time (actually sooner than the estimate, and on a Saturday night!), and the food was great!. The salads had fresh crunchy vegetables, the kebabs were not only well-seasoned, but also cooked beautifully (really juicy chicken and lamb kebabs), and super-tasty.

Emily – John and I visited Emily after a very sweaty and long walk around Lower Manhattan. We needed something refreshing to drink and had no idea we had walked into a famous spot known for Detroit style pizzas and delicious burgers served on pretzel buns. We sat at the bar and immediately noticed that the person next to us ordered the burger.

The couple behind this mega-popular restaurant say their first shared meal was a pizza while sitting in their dorm room. Their love for pizza was born there and after eating plenty of it together, Matt and Emily have gone on to create two of the best pizza restaurants in all of New York. Thin, crispy and bursting full of wonderful flavours.

Emily's motto is that pizza loves Emily, but it feels equally right to say that we love Emily's pizza. These lovely round pies come with a delightful crust, but you might not notice that as much as the toppings, which practically spill over the sides in their zeal to please. Indeed, the toppings take center stage on Emily's pizzas.

A pizza place this good has no business making such excellent wings, too (not to mention one of the most-buzzed-about burgers in town) but the Emily crew is unstoppable. These are great, coated in a gochujang-based glaze and grated pecorino, and served with homemade ranch and thin slices of radish.

Emily is an uncommon establishment that executes each dish flawlessly. Their menu is truly extraordinary, from the Detroit-style grandmother pies to the standout sides. Additionally, we are present to discuss their hamburger, despite the fact that they are technically classified as a pizzeria.

This Clinton Hill family pizzeria became a New York staple from soon after it first opened the doors in 2014. During their high school years, when Emily and Matt Hyland were a couple, their first shared meal was a pizza. Years later, together they opened Emily in Brooklyn.
