Locally owned Craft Beer and Burgers industrial-style restaurant in the downtown district, the perfect spot for a lively, classy, and casual meal. While the wide variety of burgers (including Veggie, Bison, Turkey, or Chicken) are their specialties, there are other options, from salads and specialty fries, to tacos and sandwiches like BBQ and Crab Cake, and appetizers including fried green tomatoes or tempura-fried shrimp, award-winning Mac ‘n Cheese, and amazing sides like onion rings, Asian Slaw, Jalapeno Cheddar tots or Cajun Sweet Potato fries.

With its cathedral dining room and dog-friendly shaded picnic courtyard, Muck & Fuss provides a more laid-back counterpoint to the new Lost and Found rooftop bar next door, the one from country star Randy Rogers. Muck & Fuss makes margaritas and boozy milkshakes and composes beer flights from a draft wall more than 25 taps deep. The kitchen’s a laboratory of a dozen burgers and the exponential possibilities of maxed-out fries, all drawing from the same table of elements: poutine, fried green tomatoes, street corn, havarti jam, pimento cheese, Asian slaw and 50 shades of bacon.

My favorites are: The River House, Gruene River Grill, The Gruene Door, Infernos, Mozies, and Cantina Del Rio(for their chips, salsa, and margaritas. Those are all in Gruene. For BBQ, I like Blacks. For burgers and casual food, I like Freiheit Country Store and Lone Star Float House on River Road. Downtown, I like Muck-n-Fuss, The Phoenix Saloon, McAdoos, Huisache(pronounced Wee-satch), Krauses, 188 South, and The Downtowner. Favorite places for beer are Guadalupe Brewing, Five Stones Brewing, and Krauses. For wine, I like The Grapevine, and Dry Comal Creek Winery.

Chef-inspired dishes take diners on a culinary road trip of flavors as downtown’s Muck And Fuss Craft Beer and Burgers challenges the concept of a hamburger. The Spicy Juicy Lucy (which includes a disclaimer that it has been approved by Matt of Matt’s Bar in Minneapolis, considered home of the original Jucy Lucy) provides a hot reminder that you’re in Texas. Served on a jalapeno cheddar bun layered with pimento cheese, the double burger encases pepper jack cheese and is topped with jalapeno bacon, honey chili sauce, and jalapeno aioli.
