Rolf & Daughters won’t readily admit that it’s an Italian restaurant, but if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and has spaghetti, ravioli, and rigatoni on the menu, well—quack, quack. Restaurant genres aside, they sure know how to throw down when it comes to Italian food. The sourdough with seaweed butter is always a mainstay (and for good reason), but you really can’t go wrong with any of the pastas on the rotating menu, especially the always-al dente mafalde iterations with a few bottles from the thought-provoking wine list.

Rolf and Daughters opened in 2012 in the midst of a restaurant boom, but even with all the new options in Nashville, it has remained one of the hottest tables in town. Germantown is also home to one of my favourite restaurants, Rolf & Daughters. They serve Mediterranean-inspired food, but not as you know it, and their pasta dishes are phenomenal. Chef Philip Krajeck has become a great friend.

City House, Rolf & Daughters and 5th & Taylor are all highly revered upscale restaurants. Little Donkey, Butchertown Hall and 312 Pizza offer more casual vibes, and Monell’s is one of the neighborhood’s oldest restaurants.

Our favorite local restaurants are City House, Henrietta Red, and Rolf and Daughters, but there are dozens (hundreds, even) of amazing restaurants that we love to visit in downtown Nashville too.

I love the industrial setting—the former boiler room of a paper bag manufacturer dating back to the 1800s. But there’s a downside. That big, open room can be quite loud when tables are full.

Rolf and Daughters - The service can’t be beat at Rolf & Daughters. Each waiter truly takes their time to explain every dish and drink. You’ll find that the cuisine is equally detailed.
