"ABSOLUTELY amazing!! We wanted an ocean front, chill, delicious lunch. That was exactly what we got (and then some) Lee, that smile is contagious! Robin, your phone call was great and you were so peaceful from start to finish. The binoculars were a seriously incredible touch. The food was delightful. I would love to see a side Cesar salad or something like that on the menu. 10/10 would recommend!!!!!"

They offer binoculars which were awesome for watching the otters, sea lions and all the birds! So gorgeous and a great selection of wines, all from Monterey County! Will definitely be back!"

"Great food and service! We loved every aspect of our time here. We especially enjoyed the grilled panini with mushrooms and goat cheese. Be sure to try the flight of wine samples from local wineries!"

Driving down from San Francisco, we arrived hungry and headed straight to lunch at A Taste of Monterey. Tucked away on the second floor of an old cannery, just a couple minutes away from the aquarium, this is a wine shop/restaurant with stunning views of the bay. It may not be great for really young kids or picky eaters, but the bistro offers a wide variety of small plates, flatbreads, salads, and sandwiches that will satisfy many appetites.

The Best Things to do in Monterey, California for First-Time Visitors

I normally wouldn’t recommend a wine market as a stop but A Taste of Monterey also has a bistro attached. It’s such an amazing find that I had to include it as a dinner stop in this Monterey itinerary. The menu has a range of small bites (the Yucatan chicken nachos are amazing), salads, and flatbreads, which is perfect after a big lunch.
