Reviews Summary

Bull's Horn Food and Drink is lauded as a neighborhood gem, praised for its exceptional bar food and friendly, no-nonsense service that contributes to a classic dive bar atmosphere. While many rave about signature dishes like the dill pickle fried chicken and smash burgers, some reviews note inconsistencies in food quality and service, particularly from specific staff members. Despite these occasional dips, the overall sentiment leans positive, with many eager to return.

"Bulls Horn is the best kind of neighborhood bar. Unassuming from the outside, but punches way above its weight class. The food is some of the best in the city. The fried chicken is dill pickle brined and fries to perfection. The house made fried bologna and cheese is just about perfect. The real winner though, are the smash burgers. It's one of the best smash burgers I've ever heard. Crispy edges, melty house made American cheese and super crispy bacon. The perfect balance of greasy, meaty, salty and melty. They only have a handful of taps but they always have good local breweries on tap.

They always have pull tabs and have a Meat Raffle on Wednesday. Well worth bringing cash to play and coming home with a nice roast."

"Bull’s Horn is all of what’s in a dive bar/restaurant. Unassuming and underrated, they have delicious food, great and no nonsense service and a dive bar vibe that Minneapolis needs more of. Do yourself a favor and try these guys out, you’ll be happy you did!"

"Shout out to Tracey our server, and staff on 8/2. This is one of thee best "dive bars" I've ever been to. On point service, food, atmosphere, and price point.

Tracey was great. And I misspoke about one of the sauces I ordered and she had my preferred sauce to me in seconds. All food came out fast and hot.

I had thee. best. hand breaded chicken tenders(shown in review photo-zoom in recommended). Sauce choices I saw: Bbq, buffalo, Alabama white(white bbq), ranch, and blue cheese. Alabama white sauce is worth trying. The sauces seem homemade.

The mac and cheese is the dirty date you're looking for. I force fed everyone at my table a bite of the mac. No complaints.

The chicken wings, cheese curds, and sandwiches at my table were thoroughly enjoyed as well. 👏

..As Arnold said, "I'llll be bauck.""

Best Bars in Minneapolis-St. Paul - Beverage Director

Bulls Horn is a local dive that was recently purchased and renovated by acclaimed local chef Doug Flicker. Reflecting a labor of love and an homage to Flicker’s favorite local haunt, he kept the bar's original vibes (which likely date back to 1935) but revamped the important stuff, like the food. You can’t go wrong here: one of the most acclaimed local chefs delivering delivered perfect chicken gizzards, pizza burgers, and adult-themed lunch trays like dill pickle fried chicken and ring bologna?.

The answer to a question nobody asked (but absolutely should've), Bull's Horn is what happens when an award-winning chef retires from the world of fine dining to open a dive bar. Sidle up to the counter for a few cheap beers and mixed drinks, and once you're nicely buzzed, treat yourself to some of the world's best bar food. You'll recognize everything on the menu, from dill pickle fried chicken buckets to fried bologna sandwiches, but nothing really compares to the flavor of the dishes here.

Guide to the Best Bars in Minneapolis

Perhaps the most surprising piece of Bull’s Horn is that it did, with such fine-dining pedigree behind it in award-winning chef Doug Flicker, manage to be a successfully low-key and simple dive – and that’s to embrace the notion that a simple dive is, indeed, a beautiful thing: nachos and deviled eggs and Heggie’s pizza and cold, yellow beer. And, to complete the experience, pull tabs galore.
