Reviews Summary

Zak the Baker is lauded for its exceptional baked goods and cozy atmosphere, with many highlighting the fresh breads and pastries. The staff is frequently praised for being friendly and attentive, contributing to a delightful dining experience. However, some reviewers have noted issues with slow or inattentive service, and the mandatory 18% service charge has been a point of contention.

"This restaurant has a great atmosphere and food. Being able to see the freshly baked bread come out of the oven along with the smell is a nice vibe. The Cortado coffee was perfect for a breakfast drink along w/ the Frittata Sandwich. The Cheese Danish had a flaky base w/ a delicious filling and the fresh bagels that we took to go were solid. I will definitely go back to try a few other pastries and menu items. The only issue was that our table was accidentally charged for another table along w/ ours. Besides that perfection."

"A Must-Visit Gem!

From the moment you step in, the atmosphere welcomes you with a cozy and sincere vibe. Watching the freshly baked breads come out of the oven brings an instant smile and a sense of comfort.

The service is excellent—every staff member is helpful, attentive, and radiates positivity. As for the food—simply amazing. Every dish is delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with care. You can easily tell that high-quality ingredients are used, and it truly makes a difference in both flavor and experience.

Definitely a place worth visiting—you won’t be disappointed."

"On street, metered parking BUT they will ticket within seconds so do pay! We saw the writing lots of tickets.

On the sunny side - Absolutely loved our visit to Zack the Baker! The Nutella croissant was one of the most delicious I’ve ever had—perfectly flaky with just the right amount of sweetness. We also enjoyed their French toast on our second visit but it is enough for two or three people to share.

The staff was friendly and helpful, even finding us a seat inside when it was busy. Coffee refills are available on request, which was a nice bonus.

We also appreciated the clean bathroom and reasonable prices, especially for a spot in a larger city.

Note: They’re closed on Saturdays, so plan accordingly. If you stop by on a Friday, don’t miss their freshly baked Challah loaves—they looked incredible! We purchased the cranberry country loaf but regret not buying the Challah. Will definitely buy it next time.,

Highly recommend for a warm, satisfying start to your day."

The 8 Best Croissants in Miami - Miami

Two things have remained true about Wynwood over the last decade: you should never attempt to drive down NW 2nd Ave and the neighborhood is home to one of the city's best bakeries, Zak the Baker. While you really can’t go wrong ordering bread in any form here (especially the ridiculously good babka), leave room for a croissant. Shaped exactly like a mini Nerf football, they have an intricate, web-like pattern of layers on the inside and a great—almost nutty—butter flavor.

Few faces have defined the Miami food scene like Zak Stern, the bohemian baker who began his now quite famous Wynwood spot as a Kickstarter project. Pro tip: Keep up with Zak’s baking antics on Instagram to hear first about new creations, like these Klamstwo bagels (no, we hadn’t heard of them before either).

food for thought | a miami food blog: The List: Where to Eat in Miami

Zak the Baker is doing his part, and finding success perhaps beyond even his own imagination. Who knew the hipster / haredi crossover audience would be so big?. After supplying restaurants out of makeshift facilities for years, he took a space in Wynwood a couple years ago to operate his bakery, with a small café in front serving simple, kosher, immensely satisfying bites on his outstanding, hearty breads: schmaltz herring, fresh vegetables and herbed cream cheese, of course some avocado toast.

But we still love taking trips to this Wynwood bakery, even though the crowds can be intense, because it's only at the bakery that you'll find Zak's best stuff: a rotating cast of croissants, danishes, cookies, cinnamon rolls, and traditional Jewish baked goods like boureka and a consistently perfect babka.

Founded by Miami native Zak Stern, the cafe and bakery has been honored as a Michelin Bib-Gourmand for three years in a row, and for good reason.
