Miami's first Asian-inspired gastropub, Pubbelly is the brainchild of Andreas Schreiner, Jose Mendin, and Sergio Navarro. This perpetually packed casual spot, located on the west end of Miami Beach, is not only one of the most creative restaurants in Miami, it's also one of the most fun. Pâtés, duck and pork rillettes, terrines, sausages, and pickles are all made in-house, and round out a charmingly creative menu that changes daily, but always includes ramen and udon, a raw bar, dumplings with fillings like short rib and corn or pastrami and sauerkraut, and a wide selection of small plates for sharing, like fried chicken, BBQ pork wings, and grilled octopus.

To celebrate mom, Jose Mendin's Pubbelly Sushi will offer two special three-course prix-fixe menus for two, available at its five South Florida locations from May 6 through May 19. Guests can choose from a "Sushi Mama" option, which starts with snacks like edamame, lobster donuts, salmon taquitos, and bigeye tuna crispy rice, followed by signature entrees such as two-timing tuna roll and acevichado lobster roll ($120) or a "Mama's Robata" menu, featuring an array of dishes such as gyozas, dumplings, Korean wings and truffle corn, steak anticucho, chicken yakitori, and grilled octopus ($110). Both meals end with a dessert of miso bread pudding.

Ever since it opened in 2010, Pubbelly has been a Miami Beach instant classic, the kind that leads to more locations popping up around South Florida and around the Caribbean, from Miami to Mexico City. The Sunset Harbor OG remains a local favorite after nearly 15 years, still crafting their unique mix of traditional ingredients like bigeye tuna and Japanese eggplant with fusion elements like cotija cheese, arroz pegao, and anticucho. With so much flavor filling the menu, it can be hard to pick what your order’s going to be, but lucky for you, Pubbelly has multiple tasting menus to let you savor all they’ve got to offer.

Pubbelly Sushi not only offers incredible Latin-American/Asian fare, but it is also the best place for sake cocktails!. Known for serving inventive, fresh dishes in a casual, hip atmosphere, Pubbelly Sushi recently launched a new menu, including 15 new dishes. Anything with crispy rice is a winner here, but make sure to start with snacks including the Tostones (with hamachi ceviche and ginger soy) and the Rockshrimp Tempura.

The scene inside Pubbelly Sushi's buzzing dining room is hip and casual, and there's outdoor seating as well. The perfect order includes the bigeye tuna roll on a crispy, sticky rice cake with truffle oil, the snow crab roll with clarified butter, wagyu beef tartare roll, rock shrimp tempura and shishito peppers. Think of it as deconstructed sushi because the rolls don't resemble anything you've seen before.

Hands down the best place to sushi in Miami Beach is Pubbelly. They have about 15 different types of sushi rolls, each made to perfection. You can’t find rolls like these anywhere else, including the Arana made with soft shell crab, serrano, avocado and tomatillo or the Sake Aburi with Kanikama, salmon, yuzu, miso and truffle oil.

Offering its quirky spin on sushi, Pubbelly favorites like tuna pizza, tostones and ceviche, truffle yellowtail roll, and their creative rolls with Latin flavors, among others, always keep a customer satisfied and wanting more.

What to Expect: Pubbelly offers a creative menu of sushi and Japanese fare infused with Latin influences by chef Jose Mendin. Bubbelly is both a favorite among locals and a popular spot for those visiting from out of town.

Another one of my faves at a slightly more reasonable price then Katsuya for scrumptious sushi that is anything but average. You can get your regular rolls here but so much more like crispy rice with spicy tuna.
