What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Katana Japanese Restaurant is celebrated for its incredibly fresh sushi and unique conveyor belt experience, offering great value for quality ingredients. While many praise the vibrant atmosphere and friendly service, potential diners should be prepared for significant wait times, as reservations are not accepted. The restaurant's somewhat aged aesthetic is often overlooked due to the quality of the food and the fun dining concept.
"Katana is the best sushi in South Florida. Maybe in Florida overall. If you don’t agree, please don’t come here! I have been eating here for over 20 years.
The price is very fair for the quality of the fish. You can spend $15 per person or $100 per person, it’s all based on your appetite and food choices.
Yes, you will need to wait. There are no reservations. If you are at the restaurant by 5pm, you can put yourself on the list when they put it outside. If you are on that list T 5pm, you will be sat when they open at 6pm. If you arrive at 6pm, and put your name on the list, you will probably be sat at 7-7:30pm. Anytime after that is based on how busy they are. There have been nights where I have been denied a seat because the list went too long and they close at 12am. This doesn’t mean you can show up at 11pm and get sat.
There is an awesome bar, Bobs Your Uncle, two doors down. Go in there and have a cocktail or two. Have some fries if you’re starving. Katana is worth the wait if you actually love sushi. If you love RAW fish. If you want shrimp tempura (which they sell), just go somewhere else. This place is for people who understand sushi on a deeper level.
Also, if you have a large group, this place is not a good choice. Best for parties of 2-4 people."

"It was a beautiful evening for sushi. We put our names and numbers down and wait for a call. The call came within 10 minutes. It does take longer most times. It was time to dine. We got seated as the little boats came around on the water trail we took our favorites. This was an awesome experience. You have to try it out. Good was delicious. The servers were awesome. Call you by your first name. 10/10 experience. Cheese cake temporas awesome."

"One of my favorite restaurants in Miami. Always fresh and they are always so friendly. Pro tip is put your name on the list, walk over to Bob's and have a drink while you wait! Always worth it, no matter the wait time."
