This excellent bagel shop usually sells out before they close (and even quicker on the weekends), so it's wise to place an online order bright and early. We often struggle to decide between the King Guava, a salty/savory work of bagel art that includes guava jam, crispy potato sticks, and a fried egg—or the EB Original with scallion, bacon, and a roasted jalapeno that gives off the perfect amount of heat. But whatever you get is going to be the best bagel in Miami, hands down.

Its smash-hit food truck was a favorite among those whose preferred Saturday morning activity was waiting in line for food. Then, El Bagel’s MiMo brick-and-mortar became the chosen breakfast pilgrimage of people with incredible patience. Now, find a second (possibly even busier) outpost in Coconut Grove.

Following a similar trajectory, 30-something Matteson Koche, the owner of El Bagel, began by delivering hand-rolled bagels by car in Wynwood. After upgrading to a food truck in 2018, he opened a full-on bageleria a few years ago to meet demand in MiMo (the Miami Modern area northeast of the Design District). The promise of a chewy sesame bagel with cream cheese and guava marmalade means that it’s more than bearable to stand in the ever-long queue.

Starting as a food truck, El Bagel proved so popular that it now has its own permanent home!. With a focus on the quality of the ingredients (additive and preservative-free for the most part), you really can't go wrong here. The bacon, egg, and cheese bagel is a must, but if you're looking for something a bit different, we recommend the king guava and que fancy - your taste buds won't know what hit them!

El Bagel began as a labor of love and, despite its wild success, it remains so today. In the early days, founder Matteson Koche was determined to create the perfect bagel that was affordable, free of preservatives, and suitable for Miami’s humid climate, which isn’t always ideal for baking bagels. The result was a doughy treat that quickly gained a cult-like following.

El Bagel’s newly opened shop may not be fully operational, but the team behind some of Miami’s best bagels are still busy churning out dough. These crispy-on-the-outside, chewy-on-the-inside rounds are available for order and pickup. That means you can still enjoy smoked salmon, runny eggs and thick schmears every weekend.

They have been arguably making Miami-Dade’s best bagels since they moved out of their weekly food truck behind Boxelder into their own shop in MiMo.

Everyone in Miami goes to El Bagel (6910 Biscayne Blvd.) in MiMo, and I say this as someone who lives in New York: It’s super-good. They have this bagel sandwich called the King Guava, and it’s cream cheese, guava jam, a fried egg, and shoestring French fries. It’s on another level.

Sometimes you just need a crispy-on-the-outside bagel filled with incredible ingredients. And if you do, then El Bagel is our top recommendation. You’ll find it in the Upper East Side of Miami, and it’s little location could almost be missed—but you shouldn’t.

You planned your workout on a Saturday morning, so you can stop by El Bagel after. The earlier you pass by the gym, the better, for El Bagel. They open at 8 AM and close at 2 PM, however, they often sell out of bagels!
