Reviews Summary

Boia De is celebrated for its inventive, high-quality Italian-inspired cuisine and personalized service, offering a Michelin-starred experience in a cozy setting. Diners frequently rave about dishes like the crispy polenta and beef tartare. However, the restaurant's small size makes reservations exceptionally difficult, and some guests have noted slow service or less-than-ideal seating arrangements when tables are unavailable.

"The restaurant is in a strip mall and the outside setting is nothing fancy. Inside the place is tiny and cosy and that's why it's hard to make a reservation. The food as expected was delicious. Crispy polenta was our favorite. Grilled maitakes and pickled white beach mushrooms was good appetizer size.
The carrot cake was rich and full of flavor too.
They just got their Michelin star for fourth year in a row. Congratulations Boia De - keep up the good work!"

Mariana J

"Amazing meal and restaurant. I had heard many great things about this restaurant, so I waited at my computer and refreshed the reservation page over and over at noon to be able to get a reservation for my boyfriend's birthday. He wanted to go to a place with excellent wine and excellent food, and he said Boia De checked both those boxes amazingly.

The waitress suggested we order 2-3 dishes per person and we went with 5 dishes (see pictures). My favorites were the chopped salad (do not skip this one!)and the steak tartar. Probably could eat both of those entirely on my own and be satisfied.

All dishes were perfectly seasoned and had such a complexity of flavors. My boyfriend says the wine he picked was his favorite part. They have an extensive wine list, so if you love wine, you will definitely find something good to pair with their incredible food.

Would love to return😁."

Alicia Martinez

"The service and atmosphere was excellent. Love the ambiance and perfectly lit dining experience befitting a romantic evening. The food was top notch and truly worth every bite. Taking one on a delicious journey of Italian flavors. I believe the manager there noticed I stained my shirt eating the papparadelle 😅 and was kind enough to get me a tide pen cleaner without I even asking. Truly an attention to detail and love for the customer that was chef’s kiss. Amazing place and people here. Highly recommend for anyone to dine in and enjoy amazing food and service"

28 Best Restaurants in Miami, June 2025

strip mall gem and a cozy Brooklyn dive, Boia De sits on the edge of Buena Vista and Little Haiti, where it serves modern, Italian-inspired dishes and low-ABV cocktails that taste not a drop less celebratory. Why we love it: Chefs Luciana Giangrandi and Alex Meyer pour themselves into this place, constantly reinventing the classics. The beef tartare, for example, is topped with a crunchy shallot-garlic concoction as well as capers, which are fried for a burst of briny flavor, and then the whole thing is smothered in a yummy tonnato sauce, a tuna-based Italian condiment that holds everything together like some kind of fancy picnic salad.

Best Restaurants in Miami to Visit Right Now

Buena VistaThis little modern Italian restaurant wedged next to a Little Haiti supermarket shows you don’t need big name backing to be Miami’s best. Husband-and-wife team Alex Meyer and Luciana Giangrandi have created a menu without a weak link, and a wine list worthy of a restaurant 10 times Boia’s size. It’s Italian without crossing the in-your-face red sauce line, with subtle options like crispy polenta with marinated eggplant, homemade pappardelle with rabbit and rosemary, and massive lamb ribs with urfa yogurt and spicy cucumbers.

What can be said about Boia De that hasn’t already been said about that chihuahua you follow on Tik Tok: it’s tiny, it’s adorable, and ever since you first encountered it, you find your thoughts drifting towards it multiple times a day. This narrow Italian restaurant on the edge of Buena Vista has one of those menus that's like a perfect album, with not a single song you’d dare skip. The only rules we’ll gently suggest are: order the chopped salad and the tagliolini nero.

The chef-couple behind Boia De, which opened in 2019 in the banyan tree-filled neighbourhood of Buena Vista, met in New York City while working in the kitchen at The NoMad. The same year they opened Boia De they were nominated for a James Beard Award, and while the laid-back atmosphere and modern Italian-influenced menu are definitely a draw, so is the list of New and Old World vintages—particularly the well-priced Chilean wines (a nod to co-owner Luciana Giangrandi’s roots). If you’re looking for something to temper the Miami heat, sommelier Anthony Alvarez recommends Domaine du Pélican Arbois Trois Cépages from Jura, which he calls ‘a great wine that overdelivers for its value, especially considering some of its neighbours.’

Elegant Dinner Spots in Miami for a Tranquil Night Out

Boia De’s culinary magic is somewhat unfounded based on its position within a nondescript strip mall, but on the inside it’s a tiny room full of character and thoughtful details (notably the neon-red exclamation point symbol). According to owners Luciana Giangrandi and Alex Meyer, the Italian phrase “Boia De” roughly translates to “oh my,” which is exactly our reaction when the food hits the table. A bite of any of the pasta offerings will ignite a love affair punctuated by a huge exclamation point, but in a tone that is quiet and unaffected.

Stuffed pasta is all about the stuffing, and Boia De's signature tortellini en brodo is an authentic labor of love.
