Madison Sourdough is celebrated for its exceptionally fresh, high-quality baked goods, particularly its sourdough bread and flaky pastries. Diners praise the delicious brunch and lunch options, unique menu items, and friendly service. However, some reviews mention issues with customer service and broken online ordering systems.
"Excellent service and atmosphere. I have been twice in the past two days—both breakfast and lunch are fabulous. Stand out croissants and dessert. A little expensive for the area but (I think) worth it!"

"Absolutely love Madison Sourdough! The sourdough bread is perfectly crusty on the outside and soft on the inside — you can really taste the quality. Their brunch menu is fantastic; I especially recommend the Denver omelette. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Always worth the wait, especially on weekends. A must-visit spot in Madison!"

"I had been to Sourdough before to pick up a cake I ordered that same morning (Thank you! it was delicious!), but I had never actually eaten there.
First off, bonus points for being open on a Monday morning and having vegan options available (a rare combination in Madison).
I ordered a house coffee, the Emma sandwich, and a veggie minestrone. Despite being busy, my food came out right away. The appeal here is that everything is fresh. The food tastes fresh, and that’s what you’re paying for; the quality. That said, the portion sizes were reasonable. The staff were polite in our limited interaction.
It was also great to have outdoor seating during this warm October.
Overall: great first experience."

Made from Wisconsin-grown wheat, the original batard loaf is a standby, but the chewy pepitas polenta version, studded with toasted pumpkin seeds and fresh sage, is a must-have.
