Reviews Summary

Diners praise The Cafe for its delicious Southern-inspired flavors, high-quality ingredients, and excellent service in a unique warehouse setting. While many rave about dishes like biscuits and gravy and creative Bloody Marys, some find certain dishes to be bland and lacking seasoning, and fries can sometimes be served less than warm.

"Had the scrambled eggs and bacon over grits. The grits were creamy with a good flavor. Bacon cooked nearly prefect. French toast was good, but something seemed missing. The presentation of all the food was very good."

Aaron Adamkiewicz

"I originally came here for fried chicken as there is some positive review. However, it is only available during dinner hours. So I ordered the fried chicken sandwiches instead. The fried chicken is very average, not particularly juicy and crispy. For the other dishes, all of them are very blend and lack of seasoning. Therefore I don't think I will visit this restaurant again."

Nana Sang

"Very amazing food and our server, Crystal, was very nice. Awesome sauce experience. Would recommend! We got the lunch combo and got two plates of food."

Best brunch & breakfast restaurants in the Louisville area

With a direct name like The Cafe, you're probably more focused on the food than the "accouterments" of a business that can get in the way of a simple, great meal. Breakfast at The Cafe is southern, simple and delicious, something the restaurant has thrived on since it first opened in the Louisville Antique Mall on Goss Avenue in 1996. Keeping with the theme of the mall, they named sandwiches after periods of furniture — The Renaissance (salami, ham and Swiss), French Provincial (turkey, roast beef and Swiss), Queen Anne (Benedictine) and The Early American (roast beef), Courier Journal previously reported.

8 Delicious Dishes that Were Created in Louisville, Kentucky - Louisville Food Tours

While a delicate cucumber sandwich may invoke images of British High Tea, this particular version made from grated cucumber and onion, cream cheese, and dill was created by Ms. Jennie Benedict, a caterer in Louisville, in the 1890s. She called her invention Benedictine. (The lesson here is that if you invent something delicious, you should definitely name it after yourself to ensure your spot in culinary history.)
