Reviews Summary

Quarter Sheets garners significant praise for its exceptional Detroit-style pizza, particularly its pillowy dough and perfectly balanced toppings. Diners also rave about the inventive and delicious desserts, especially the Princess Cake. While the food is consistently a hit, some find the reservation process and busy atmosphere challenging, with occasional remarks about overly salty dishes or less attentive service during peak times.

"The best pizza so far we've ever had in LA. Other items on the menu are also phenomenal. Recommend going with more than 2 so you can try many things. Definitely we will visit again!"

"I always leaves happy and satisfied. :)
This pizza hits all the marks—crispy yet tender crust, thoughtfully balanced toppings, and just the right amount of chew. One of my absolute favorites in the city. I love bringing it to gatherings, and my friends are obsessed too. It never disappoints."

"Finally decided to bite the bullet and make a reservation to try this place out. Honestly I find it ridiculous to have to make reservations to eat pizza at a dingy corner spot in Echo Park but here we are.

The location feels slapped together. It’s nothing to write about. Gives more of a pop up vibe than something lived in and authentic. You notice it with the random silverware and chairs.

Food: Not bad. Very flavorful sauces. Though I’d would say the meatballs were barely holding together. They needed some firmness to them otherwise it tasted like a barely held together ball of ground meat. The meat itself was good but didn’t have much flavor. That or the sauce just overpowered it. We kept one meatball on the plate just so we could spoon the sauce on some of the slices. The “garlic bread” that comes with these are really just another slice of pizza with cheese which was delicious but also very salty. It’s gonna be a theme.

People joke about the gluten and that’s normal, but the sodium intake should be the concern! Some of these slices just come off as way too salty. The cheese is great and I think bring the perfect amount of saltiness so it doesn’t require much from the rest of the ingredients other than balancing out the flavors. I love salt. But even I was like damn this is salty!

The sauces are a bit more on the sweeter side but I personally like that. And because of this we used it to offset the salt from some of the slices.

They ran out of their famous Princess Cake as I ordered it. But our waiter didn’t really seem to move with any purpose. Kinda felt like he was done for the night and wanted to rush us to order. But was clearly so friendly with the neighboring party.

Would probably not dine in again but would order for pick up for sure. To be frank, I don’t like too much hassle to get my pizza. These slices are delicious so I’d much rather just order ahead and pick up to go."

27 Best Pizza Spots in Los Angeles To Try in 2025

Let us count the ways: This Echo Park shop serving Detroit-style–leaning pizza offers square slices with pillowy, flawless-hydration dough that practically springs back after every bite. The ratio of toppings to dough is always spot on, and so are the flavors—they range from the classics and expecteds (pepperoni with red sauce, basil and cheese) to weekly specials that always have us checking for entirely new creations, and some of our favorites, which we greet like an old friend whenever it’s their turn in the rotation again. Chef Aaron Lindell’s wild creations include options like the pierogi-inspired Polish Yacht Club, which scatters potato, lemon cream, caramelized onion, green onions and bacon over the cheese-crusted dough.

Detroit-style pizza became a thing outside of the Motor City in the last 10 years with spots like Via 313 in Austin and Emmy Squared in Brooklyn. Since then, a number of chefs all over the country have tried their hand at interpretations of the deep-dish, sauce-on-top style. Launched in 2020, this pizza pop-up bills itself as “Glendale’s #1 least authentic Detroit-style pizza.” Known as much for its take on the Midwest-style pizza as it is for Hannah Ziskin’s incredible desserts (aka House of Gluten), you can order pies and sweets for pickup on Friday and Saturdays.

Quarter Sheets makes some of the best pizza in LA, but ignoring their desserts would be a huge mistake. The specials here change weekly, but we’ve never come across a grapefruit tart, apple galette, or triple-berry cheesecake slice we didn’t fall for. Quarter Sheets’ triple-layer princess cake is especially dreamy, with its shockingly light layers of olive oil cake lined with raspberry jam and whipped mascarpone cream.

The word is out on this Echo Park spot, so expect a wait, but one bite of their inch-thick, pan-style pizzas makes it all worth your while. Baked to order, they're prepared with flavorful sauce and quality ingredients. Pepperoni is a classic choice, or opt for the pimento grove, a vodka sauced pizza topped with olives, 'nduja and cheese. And, while you might not expect to get serious pastries at a pizza shop, don't leave without trying at least one of Hannah Ziskin's pastries. There are a few offerings that rotate often but the signature Princess cake is a staple that's worth every bite." - Michelin

Best restaurants in California, from San Diego to the Bay Area

The origin story of my favorite pizzeria-that’s-more-than-a-pizzeria in California began when Aaron Lindell and Hannah Ziskin met while working at Cotogna in San Francisco. They moved to Los Angeles in 2018 and soon after Ziskin became the pastry chef at Melissa Perello’s M. Georgina, a short-lived casualty of the pandemic. The couple regrouped with a pop-up called Quarter Sheets: Lindell, raised in Michigan, baked crackly-edged rectangular pizzas in a Detroit-ish style, while Ziskin tapped into an almost freakish genius for layer cakes stacked with custards, fruits and complex buttercreams.
