What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Majordomo is lauded for its unique Korean-American fusion cuisine and lively ambiance, with many diners celebrating special occasions here. Standout dishes like the short rib and crispy rice are frequently praised, though some guests have noted the service can be cold and the occasional dish may be overly salty or just 'okay'.
"Not a big fan of David Chang after that foo tried to bully small business by claiming chili crunch but his food is fire. Great service and good vibes at Majordomo. Great drink selection as well. Their pork shoulder blossom is delicious but it isn’t traditional Korean blossom which uses pork belly."

"Finally was able to try this place! We sat at the chef’s counter since we didn’t have reservations for dinner on a Saturday. It wasn’t as crowded in the beginning around 5:30 but it definitely got crowded later on.
The bing bread was great, we didn’t realize they would only give us one per order. I liked the boiled chicken although it was way too much for the two of us. The noodle portion was very salty though which was a shame and it took a long time to come out. Highly recommend the crispy rice!"

"Really wanted to give five stars and may go back in the future to do so. Food was amazing and honestly ordering the pork shoulder and mushroom rice would have been enough. Potatoes were okay. Bread with eggplant dip were excellent. Pie was the best part. But the service tonight was strangely cold? There were a few times we felt like we were being scolded by the server. Maybe we didn't look the part and maybe should have had a sign to say yes we will tip you well. At any rate glad that we went."

These are the 101 best restaurants in L.A. of 2021
Any restaurant that even vaguely heeds the Southern California seasons winds up with a tomato and stone fruit salad on its summertime menu. Executive chef Jude Parra-Sickels and his team make the one I most anticipate every year — meltingly ripe fruit splashed with a nutty sherry vinaigrette that brightens the sweetness of peaches and teases extra umami out of tomatoes. Plus, it clicks with every other starter on the table: soft flatbreads to be smeared with good butter and folded around kerchiefs of Allan Benton’s country ham; sausage-stuffed peppers that nod to Korean pan-fried gochu jeon; small fried oxtails buried in salsa seca.
25 great wine bars and wine restaurants in Los Angeles 2025
With restaurants in Canada, Australia, Las Vegas and all over New York City, its perhaps crazy to say this, but David Chang’s Majordomo is definitely his best. Landing in North Chinatown in an area surrounded by warehouses, many worried if the achievements of the other concepts would translate to LA—especially with the recent lack of West Coast success from other New York hospitality groups. But the opening timing of Majordomo could not have been any better with the premier of Ugly Delicious on Netflix, causing his popularity to hit whole new level.
Four of the best Korean restaurants in Los Angeles
There was also the success enjoyed by recently closed but much loved Yangban, which served ‘Korean Americana’ food in the same area, as well as David Chang’s Majordōmo in the northeast corner of Chinatown, which has been open since 2018. In Silver Lake, there’s Joseon, a tasting menu concept from chef Debbie Lee, who has North Korean roots, and there’s Perilla by chef Jihee Lee in Victor Heights, which reinterprets banchan using premium Californian ingredients.

The bar menu comes courtesy of Austin Hennelly, formerly the head bartender at Majordomo, who brings flavors familiar to Kato’s loyal audience to classic cocktails, adding bitter melon to a tonic and five spice to milk punch. This will, undoubtedly, be the hottest ticket in town for many weeks — but not on Valentine’s Day, when the restaurant will be closed.
