Reviews Summary

Esther's Kitchen is celebrated for its exceptional Italian soul food, particularly its house-made pastas and sourdough bread. While many praise the fresh ingredients and vibrant atmosphere, some find the restaurant to be quite noisy and pricey. Despite minor service or ambiance concerns, the quality of the food consistently brings diners back.

"I’d been wanting to try Esther’s for a while, and I finally made it happen on my recent trip to Las Vegas. It’s located in the Arts District—an area I hadn’t explored before. The vibe was definitely hip and trendy, with the staff showing off their own unique styles, which added to the cool atmosphere.

The service was excellent. Our waitress was super friendly and really knowledgeable about the menu. She gave us a few recommendations that helped us decide what to order. The food was amazing—the pasta is made fresh in-house, and we were fascinated watching someone roll out the dough and make pasta right in front of us.

Overall, this is a great spot for dinner. The atmosphere is lively and loud, so it might not be the best choice if you’re looking for a quiet or romantic setting. But I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their pasta dishes—and maybe one of their pizzas next time."

Ivan Baez

"We got a recommendation to try this place from a coworker and couldn’t be more thankful they suggested it! We got right into the bar, and our bartender Steven was phenomenal! He essentially picked out entire meal from drinks, to appetizers to dessert and did not steer us wrong! The absolutely BEST Italian food I’ve had stateside. I have told everyone I know to go try this place when they’re in town and have already planned to come back with my family. Great food and great service! Thanks Steven!"

Paige LeForte

"Been to Esther's twice now, and the food and drinks are truly amazing. My husband loves the sourdough bread, and I love the pasta. All the drinks we had were amazing too. Very solid choice if you're in Las Vegas. We went straight there after landing, so that tells you our commitment!"

Best Pizza in Las Vegas: Pizza Shops With the Best Slices in Town

It may not be a “pizza place,” per se, but chef James Trees’ seasonal Italian restaurant in the Downtown Las Vegas Arts District is known for its naturally leavened pizzas as much for its from-scratch pastas and housemade sourdough bread. The approach here is farm-to-table fresh and seasonal, and while there are a LOT of outstanding menu items that will compete for your attention here, it’s worth ordering a pizza for the table to share—the wild mushroom pizza with garlic panna, taleggio, mozzarella, and garlic spinach is a real standout. They also have a brunch pizza with lamb merguez, pomodoro, chorizo, fontina, and quail eggs that is *chef’s kiss.* The pizzas here also fall under the “Neapolitan” category, though Chef James took the pandemic as an opportunity to further tweak their dough so now it’s just a bit crispier than the traditionally doughy Neapolitan crust. How to order: Dine-in only; reservations available on their website.

Downtown’s no longer hidden gem, helmed by James Beard Award finalist Chef James Trees, Esther’s Kitchen is a haven for rustic yet refined Italian fare about a 15 minute drive from the center of The Strip. Beyond the must-try rigatoni with black kale and almond pesto, the menu sings with seasonal ingredients and house-made pastas like the melt-in-your-mouth ricotta gnocchi with wild mushrooms and truffle butter. Don’t skip the sourdough bread, artfully swiped with anchovy butter, and prepare to be wowed by the melt-in-your-mouth veal osso buco, its richness perfectly balanced and sure to leave you dreaming about it after your meal.

Esther was chef James Trees’ great-aunt, and the person who encouraged him to pursue his passion for the culinary arts, and there’s plenty of feel-good spirit in this Arts District restaurant. Trees’ menu is a well-crafted ode to Italy, with wood-fired pizzas, sharable plates of charcuterie and dips (don’t pass on the ‘nduja) to spread on the house sourdough bread, as well as pastas made à la minute, of which the radiatore with trippa alla Romana is a moreish revelation. If you hear a bell ring, it means someone bought the kitchen a round of beers; for a breezy $8, you should do the same.
