I’m always surprised by how few people have been to Wild Love. I have literally tried to replicate the recipe myself using gluten-free flour, oats, chocolate, peanuts, peanut butter and sea salt sprinkled on top.

Wild Love Bakehouse is by far my favorite of any of the cafes on this list and for good reason. While their Matcha Latte is absolutely heavenly all the credit must go to their Prosciutto and Gruyere croissant. You can often see their employees in the back, hand making most of their food with the ingredients grown in their parking lot.

With warm wood tones and old brick, this local favorite really captures the historic feel of one of Knoxville’s oldest neighborhoods. Their sister coffee shop and bakery Wild Love Bakehouse is in Happy Holler and is almost the opposite. It’s open and airy with lots of natural light, modern without feeling cold.

But first, our morning began by venturing to north Knoxville to see what all the fuss was about with Wild Love Bakehouse, which AFAR magazine dubbed “the best bakery in America” (bold claim!). We had lattes and homemade pop-tarts, and I can’t disagree with their love for this charming spot.

Wild Love Bakehouse has been open for about 2 years now and has seen success since day one. From coffee, flatbreads, scones, sandwiches, and muffins, everything is homemade in-store daily. Meg Parrish, Co-Owner and Head of Pastry, opened the Knoxville hotspot in 2015 with her husband Shawn.

Then there are the bagels at Paysen, the best croissants I’ve had this side of Paris at Wild Love Bakehouse and the burgers at Stock and Barrel. All this and I haven’t mentioned some of our favorite restaurants: Kefi, Rebel Kitchen, Oliver Royale.

The place was full of people hanging around in the middle of the afternoon, nibbling at pastries and downing cappuccinos like they had no place else to be. I was curious, to say the least.

On the way out of town I stopped in at Wild Love Bakehouse located at 1625 N. Central St. This is a fun, hip spot for great coffee and baked goods. The cranberry scone was excellent.

A menu of meticulously crafted pastries and their creative teas and coffees have earned this cafe dedicated fans in Knoxville as well as national attention.
