What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Vida offers a consistently wonderful dining experience with attentive service and delicious food, set in a unique historic bank atmosphere. While many praise the quality and variety, some find the prices high for the overall experience compared to other fine dining establishments.
"What a neat experience. Went for my birthday & tried several small plates. We got elote (corn), mini changas, crispy shrimp, & empanadas. The only thing i wasn't impressed with was the chips, salsa, & cheese dip. It was nothing special & not worth $16. The waitress, Paige, was amazing & such a sweetheart."
Megan Elliott
"We've been here several times in 2025 and it's always been a wonderful experience. The food, service and ambiance is hard to beat in Knoxville. There are many choices for drinks and food, compared to a couple of other fine dining restaurants in town.
I highly recommend the trout dip and duck confit. Jacob is a fun and amazing bartender! The bar service is always great."

Where to eat when you're in Knoxville
Sharing is caring at Vida where the best way to experience the Pan-Latin flavors is to order a few small plates to share with your friends and family around the table. Enjoy barbacoa empanadas with caramelized onions, barbacoa beef, sofrito, romesco and cotija cooked in a house-made pastry; mini changas with roasted chicken, Spanish rice, jalapeno and black beans, Yuca fries topped with queso blanco and jack cheese and local Benton's bacon; sauteed mussels; tuna tacos and more. The Peruvian chicken, boneless beef short rib and swordfish are chef's specialties and should not be missed.

Corn is life at the aptly named Maiz de la Vida, which belies the humble food truck it currently occupies. Tortillas are made using freshly ground, nixtamalized corn and the offerings are multilayered and thoughtful. Chef Julio Hernandez will open a brick-and-mortar extension, Maiz DLV, this summer, where he’ll put out more elevated dishes in what he calls a “Tennessee-Mex” style—look forward to rich moles, fried plantains, and a heavy Meso-American meets punk-rock vibe.
Visit Maker City: Exploring the Knoxville Art Scene In Depth
Located on the ground floor of the thoughtfully remodeled Holsten Building, Vida is one of the hottest destinations for artistic dining and fancy drinks. With a Latin-influenced menu that anchors back to French cuisine, the options for food are a delightful mix of eclectic tapas plates. Carrots, fennel and ricotta are a popular starter as are the corn croquettes and empanadas; crab cakes, scallops or the pork belly are all wise choices for sharable dishes.

The Pan-Latin restaurant’s approach to dining features such dishes as shrimp ceviche, barbacoa empanadas, or panko-crusted fish, as well as cocktails like mojitos, daiquiris, and a daily bartender’s pick.

One of our Downtown Knoxville favorites, Vida is the go-to for date night. The restaurant itself is stunning with excellent food to match. It’s got a swanky 1920’s vibe and it was the inspiration behind my Billiard Room kitchenette!
