While some reviews note that the restaurant may not live up to extreme hype, most agree it's a worthwhile stop for a delicious meal and great drinks. Some minor complaints include burgers being overcooked, but overall, the experience is consistently positive.

"Stock & Barrel is an absolute gem! The food was outstanding—fresh, flavorful, and clearly crafted with care. Really is the best burger around! What really blew me away was their incredible bourbon selection—easily one of the best I’ve seen. The staff was amazing too: friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. It’s definitely worth the wait to eat or drink here."

"Great place if you are looking for burgers. They offer all different types of combos from traditional with cheese to egg or peanut butter toppings.
The fries were great and the burger was cooked to order and was delicious.
I tried the fried feta as an appetizer and it was good. Order if looking for a shareable . The tomato salad was refreshing and reminded me of a Greek salad.
Our server was very friendly, knowledgeable and was very attentive to our table."

Knoxville recommendations: Restaurants near University of Tennessee

When I lived in Knoxville from 2000-02, best burger in town was at Litton’s. It was a quaint little eatery in the Fountain City neighborhood where diners wrote their name on a chalkboard and waited their turn for a divinely prepared burger that made up in execution what it lacked in creativity. The only thing that could knock Litton’s from its perch was a burger joint that executed the bun-burger-cheese-bun part as well as Litton’s—but with a little flair.

Pro-tip: Order a side of garlic aioli for the included fries or onion rings.

This cozily hip burger joint in Market Square is likely to be packed with people — and when you taste the “locally-grown” craft burgers and the duck confit fries, you’ll understand why. We each chose a different burger from the long list of choices and while all were great, the bison and Black and Blue burgers were our favorites. As for the duck confit fries, honestly, I’d drive the four hours back to Knoxville just to taste them again.
