Isn't there better local fare,something that isn't a chain----my DD is a senior at UT and says there is fantastic pizza at Pizza Palace which I believe is east of downtown. How about some local suggestions from some Knoxvillians----is Regas local???. We could use these too since we're heading that way soon!

Made-from-scratch pizzas and hand-breaded onions are just a few menu items that have made Pizza Palace a landmark in Knoxville, Tennessee. Not only that, their famous Greek salad is to die for. It features feta cheese, ripe olives, egg wedges, anchovies, and pepperoni—served with Pizza Palace’s house dressing.

It's built right into the name: Pizza Palace is considered Knoxville royalty. The restaurant has been featured on "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives," as well as other food-focused TV shows, and has been in operation for more than 50 years. Its marquee alone is considered a landmark in the Scruffy City.

I am thankful the Pizza Palace on Magnolia is still there and was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. And I still enjoy Sam & Andy’s in Farragut and Louis’ on Broadway. And I appreciate and enjoy our local chains such as the Chop House Restaurants, Aubrey’s, and Buddy’s BBQ.

If you’re okay with adventuring past the city center, head to Pizza Palace Drive-In, a family-run establishment that’s been open since 1961. Whatever you do, make sure it includes a Greek salad: Owner Charlie Peroulas still makes the secret vinaigrette himself, every day.

Though it was featured on the popular Food Network show “Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives,” not many people know about Pizza Palace due to its location. Sitting on Magnolia Street, near Chilhowee Park, this spot seems like a carhop-mecca straight from the 1960s.
