What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Salmon Falls Resort and The Timbers Restaurant offer a spectacular Alaskan experience with breathtaking views and the unique opportunity to 'Hook and Cook' your own catch. While many praise the fresh seafood and attentive service, some diners found the food overpriced for the quality, with specific complaints about the chowder and steak preparation. The resort's remote location and no-cash policy are also points to note.
"I just returned from an incredible 6-night stay at Salmon Falls Resort in Ketchikan, Alaska, and I’m already dreaming of my next trip back. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of spectacular.
We kicked things off with a day and a half of captain-led fishing - an absolute highlight! Our captains (Shout out to Sam and Connor) were knowledgeable, patient, and made the entire outing both successful and fun. Beyond the guided trips, the easy access to skiffs gave us the freedom to explore and fish at our own pace, adding an extra layer of adventure to our stay.
Another unforgettable moment was the float plane ride- it was breathtaking and gave us a whole new appreciation for the region's natural beauty. We also had the chance to go crabbing (Shout out to Captain Frank), which was not only exciting but added to the hands-on, immersive feel of the trip. DO NOT SLEEP on the hook and cook, where the captains will prepare what you caught (Fish or Crab) at the dock, then send it up to the kitchen and you're eating fresh seafood that YOU caught within a half hour. Experience of a lifetime. It doesn't get fresher than that.
Let's keep talking about the food - it deserves the airtime as it truly exceeded every expectation. Every meal felt like fine dining in the middle of the wilderness. The short rib was melt-in-your-mouth amazing, the prime rib night was a feast to remember, and burger night hit all the right comfort food notes. The Taste of Alaska menu was especially memorable, offering an authentic and delicious glimpse into local flavors.
I really appreciated the Discovery Room. It was the perfect spot to gather with friends in the evening - warm, welcoming, and a great space to swap stories on your catch of the day and relax to play cards or shuffle board.
Overall, Salmon Falls Resort delivered on every front - top-notch service, unforgettable activities, and world-class cuisine in one of the most stunning locations I’ve ever visited. I can’t recommend it enough, and I’m already counting the days until I return."

"The atmosphere is exceptional, though i will point out an out of state corporation who favors non local employees owns the property and establishment. The service was good, but for something so pricey it was just good, nothing stood out with our personal table service. My mom did complain to me that a bartender ignored her at the bar, than when asked to make a "churchhill" it was nothing like she recognized as such? My medium rare ribeye I ordered was medium well, but it was well seasoned atleast. I ordered a "mocktail." A ginger beer with a sprig of mint and a splash of grenadine, 14$. I complained, the server told me it was on the menu, the cocktail menu, I'm an ex drinker, I don't read cocktail menus, I know what I like, I also know the relative cost to make it, I got ripped off! Spent over 100$ on myself alone, not to mention I bought a few other dinners at my table, which included overcooked prime rib. A place that advertises a weekend prime rib special cannot offer med rare, I'll say it, it's bullshit! I won't have trouble deciding to eat at Bush pilots lounge next time i have family in town. The company made the occasion, the food sucked, and that 14$ mocktail should be a criminal offense. Sorry salmon falls you failed. I was told the chef cooked my steak. Tell him, I can do better myself and he should go back to school. This was a costly mistake."

"Uncomfortable environment for a Muslim woman.
The waiter needs to be educated.
Came thru floating plane (purchased thru over cruise) and one table was reserved for 10 people, 8 were a family member and 2 of us. asked the waiter if me and my wife can sit on a separate table and we will pay for it . He said no your reservation for this table is already paid you have to sit all together.
it’s not allowed for a Muslim female to sit in the middle of strange men and eat.
We left the restaurant. They don’t want to server us as we were willing to pay for a separate table and food.
Very unprofessional staff."
